    NPC prices in the market

The market isn't really functioning as intended at this point (though it is still young and will eventually balance out). To speed that up considerably we could add what the NPC price to purchase an item is on the market. In other words, search Bronze Dagger on the market and see the listed prices as well as a small notice that the NPC price is (for example) 230 gil. The same for posting items for sale. If you about to post it to the market it should give you an idea what the item's value really is. Otherwise we're guessing at if level 23 tanking gear is 230 or 800 or 1400; which leads to many item markets being flooded with 18 posts between 1200 and 1800 for an item you can buy for 230.

It would also be a useful utility (though one I understand being left out by design) to allow us to view the current market conditions for an item when we are pricing it (seeing those other 18 posts and their quantity/price).

You can check for history of the item before you post it for sale. You can find this button in your Retainer window.

    EDIT:
You shouldn't have easy access to the vendor value since that is part of research and finding the vendors that sells them, otherwise the market will be boring. If you can find a vendor item for cheap and sell it in market for profit, that should be your reward for finding a diamond in the rough. Eventually it will be a common knowledge that having the feature on the market interface will only be a waste.
