The only cutscene that is problematic is the one after shooting down the airships in Castrum. Not everyone's CS load at the same speed so even if you are skipping you can get screwed if you managed to skip faster than the rest of the party. Just get rid of those Colossi once the CS starts, SE.
My favorite experience was dong Praetorium with 6/8 FC members, and as soon as we enter the SMN demands that we all skip the CS because they timed out in previous runs, and they called me a liar when I told them I've cleared it before with over an hour left, watching Cutscenes. My friends new to the run watched the CS's completely and we won with 61:45 left.

Really? I would say that the people from FFXI are the ones who complain about EVERYTHING that isn't exactly like FFXI. They are all for archaic MMO structures as long as it harkens back to their ye ol days of FFXI.Because that would be too much like FFXI and the XIV community largely despises anything and everything to do with XI. There's nothing wrong with skipping it as you can go to your Inn Room and watch every cutscene. The only difference is you wouldn't be with a group - Which doesn't matter as much (it is cool but it doesn't) since the story treats you as a singular hero anyway.
They mention there's others but your party up until castrums doesn't really matter to what's being said/shown
