While I personally skip most of them, I don't think anyone should ever feel they have to skip their cutscenes to please everyone else in the party. You bought this game, so you should be able to enjoy it the way you want - not how players XYZ play their game.
Funny part though is when I decided to watch a cutscene with impatient players, they ended up all dying because I was the tank at the time. Serves them right.
Know what's funny? Mostly everyone requested/nearly demanded the CS playback option so they can skip things to watch later, so..it actually is a viable solution, one asked for by players and one even SE wanted in the game.
If there's nothing wrong with not skipping it there's nothing wrong with skipping it to watch later. You can't argue against that unless you can prove no one will be upset with unskippable cutscenes (hence why they even offer the ability to skip cutscenes.)
Who seriously watches the cutscenes? Haha they are, for the most part, horrible. Just watch them at the inn. I have not had a problem watching any of them from the inn.
They should disable the chat window if someone is watching a cut-scene.. seriously. Just don't allow chat while people are watching these scenes. There's no reason for people to chat or yell at anyone during these events.
OK they can try to clear it without a healer. If they do I will just queue up again. Its not a big deal to me.Sadly, this can and will backfire on you - you can actually glitch people out by continuing certain dungeons while they're in cutscene, the game will treat them as if they never cleared the boss - The biggest culprit is praetorium. if you decide you want to watch every CS, the rest of your group can clear up to Ultima and you'll be locked out with a fresh Gaius to fight.
It's not a common glitch, but it's been seen enough to start becoming a trend. "Let's try to lock x person watching cutscene out of getting credit."
Even if you stopped the timer that wouldn't change the stupid way people think. The vast majority of people running the last 2 dungeons are there farming tokens so it's not the timer that has them in a rush, it's themselves. They want to get the dungeons finished asap and don't care about anyone who might be running it for the first time which will most likely be at least 1 person every time given that it is technically a story dungeon. I really hate what the games community is becoming.
That's a pretty terrible trend and gives me even more reason to stick to running content I haven't experienced exclusively with my FC. Once I've seen it then maybe I'll run with PUGs when I don't need to see the cutscene again.
People play Final Fantasy games to experience a story, so screw other people if it takes five minutes out of their lives to wait on someone to actually enjoy an integral part of the game.
You're the tank. Watch the cutscenes. You have plenty of time to do it. And if they want to speed run, they shouldn't pug or use the duty finder. It's rude to not let you enjoy the story line, the way the game wanted you to.
To be honest, it's the lesser evil to have people wait a min or so, than it is to ruin someones first-time experience. The argument about who's right and wrong on the matter works both ways, thus is pointless. Either be a jerk or be patient, it's the individuals call. If either side wants to avoid problematic people, make some friends and run it with them. Problem solved, unless you're socially inept... in an MMORPG.
