Because that would be too much like FFXI and the XIV community largely despises anything and everything to do with XI. There's nothing wrong with skipping it as you can go to your Inn Room and watch every cutscene. The only difference is you wouldn't be with a group - Which doesn't matter as much (it is cool but it doesn't) since the story treats you as a singular hero anyway.

Really? I would say that the people from FFXI are the ones who complain about EVERYTHING that isn't exactly like FFXI. They are all for archaic MMO structures as long as it harkens back to their ye ol days of FFXI.

I agree with this. A full on pause needs to happen if there are people still in cutscenes, just to annoy the vocal "leet" tomestone farmers that insult people who watch the cs.

This. I've only run into one instance where a cut-scene really can cause problems, the next to last story dungeon. You become unhurtable during them, but mobs are still there, and if anyone skips it, they have to fight them without those in the cut-scenes. It would be best in my view if one of those circles popped up around characters so others couldn't start boss fights, or get hurt until they are all over, even in the middle of dungeons.

Last story dungeon, head tank told everyone to go watch cut-scenes at the "moogle house" (wut?), and that the dungeon takes too long to run if you watch them. He convinced everyone to skip, and we finished with over 40 mins left on the timer.

Where is this 'inn room' you speak of? I've not seen such a feature in the game yet...

Early in the story quests, you talk to a inn-keeper, in Limsa he's next to the lift in the Drowning Wench. You ask for a room, and there is a room with a box to store special items, a journal that shows cut-scenes, and a bed. I'm not sure, but i've read that you get more rested xp in there, so i've been logging out it every time if i can. Other cities have them too, i'm just not sure where.

Sadly, this can and will backfire on you - you can actually glitch people out by continuing certain dungeons while they're in cutscene, the game will treat them as if they never cleared the boss - The biggest culprit is praetorium. if you decide you want to watch every CS, the rest of your group can clear up to Ultima and you'll be locked out with a fresh Gaius to fight.

It's not a common glitch, but it's been seen enough to start becoming a trend. "Let's try to lock x person watching cutscene out of getting credit."

OK they can try to clear it without a healer. If they do I will just queue up again. Its not a big deal to me.

That's a pretty terrible trend and gives me even more reason to stick to running content I haven't experienced exclusively with my FC. Once I've seen it then maybe I'll run with PUGs when I don't need to see the cutscene again.

People play Final Fantasy games to experience a story, so screw other people if it takes five minutes out of their lives to wait on someone to actually enjoy an integral part of the game.

Tell them they can either wait for you to finish the scene, or they can wait for a new tank in queue.

in 8 mans there are 2 tanks , if the other tanks decide to go ahead and tank the boss ,u are going to finish the cutscene and find yourself out of the combat circle , so if the whole raid is rushing u miss the CS or the battles ...
