It may not be financially viable for Square to operate in Europe. That the data center is localized in Montreal (Square recently purchased Edios based there) makes financial sense as Edios more than likely had service agreements in place for their node and rack needs. The transition was seamless as all they had to do (more than likely) is renew the rental contract.

For Square to operate in the United States or in Europe, they would need a team stationed there for maintenance and support. This would mean opening a satellite office near the hub they wish to go through. They would also need multi lingual support to interface with the hosts, satellite office, and corporate office.

Square would also be locked into a service agreement for x amount of years. If the space isn't needed or they move away from their current focus, they must buy out their contract, or pay the remainder of their term.
