Do you plan on placing servers in the united states, or in europe at some point in the future? I didn't know where else to post this, I can't post in feedback forum.

They might do - when they inevitable server merges arrive - it would be a good time to open another NA server and one in Europe to handle the localized cluster of merged servers. Europe got the shaft again on this one.
I doubt they will and from their point of view there probably isn't any need to.
This isn't a 1st person shooter, so ~100-150ms of latency is perfectly acceptable. I'm in Europe (UK) and although it's initially frustrating with the AoE hitting you when you think they shouldn't have, you soon get to learn exactly how much time you have to move to avoid it. Since working that out I don't think I've been hit by any AoEs that I didn't expect to get hit by.
All the FFXI servers were (and still are?) based in Japan and I know from playing that for over 6 years that I didn't have any lag based problems. I have no idea what my latency to those servers was, but I bet it was a lot higher than what I'm getting to the Quebec servers now![]()
Would love one in EU .. at least for the EU people that will be a relieve since canada -> eu is slightly further away then canada -> us :P
i live in texas which might as well be as far away from quebec as you can get while being in the US, but yeah, common sense, put some servers IN europe and put some servers IN the united states, and maybe even in texas so people from South America can play :P
Svaltus, for your information, Dallas is 1500 miles away from Montreal.
Berlin (in Germany) is 3500 miles away from Montreal (flight distance, cable length is probably longer).
Why call a datacenter "Europe" if it's located in America ?
Just call it America, and player will know where they are playing.
It may not be financially viable for Square to operate in Europe. That the data center is localized in Montreal (Square recently purchased Edios based there) makes financial sense as Edios more than likely had service agreements in place for their node and rack needs. The transition was seamless as all they had to do (more than likely) is renew the rental contract.
For Square to operate in the United States or in Europe, they would need a team stationed there for maintenance and support. This would mean opening a satellite office near the hub they wish to go through. They would also need multi lingual support to interface with the hosts, satellite office, and corporate office.
Square would also be locked into a service agreement for x amount of years. If the space isn't needed or they move away from their current focus, they must buy out their contract, or pay the remainder of their term.
actually, they have an office in london.
thats why europe should be the first to get servers xDSvaltus, for your information, Dallas is 1500 miles away from Montreal.
