I dunno if this was suggested before, but I really think a Vanity system would be LOVELY. In playing the game, it kind of sucks seeing everyone dressed as me. Honestly I hate the idea of having to dress a certain way just to be optimal though. Whaddya think?

i believe it was said that this will happen, just wont be able to dress as a caster if youre a tank type thing.

This. "Vanity Slots" or something similar will be introduced into the game at some point, so hang onto any armor sets you think look cool, because eventually you'll be able to look the way you want without compromising your stats.

I have a friend that is overly keen to run around dressed as a pirate 24/7.

Were there any specifics mentioned? I was quite fond of RIFT's system that gave you costume pages/slots that you could wear over gear. I'd definitely prefer this over a WoW-like transmog system.

An early patch, but not necessarily the first patch. Please be excited.

From what I remember hearing they will have some sort of vanity system but it will be restricted to gear you can wear and currently own. So no tanks rocking whitemage AF.

I do hope we get some degree of flexibility, if only for the sake of people like that player that "cosplayed" their character to look like Meliadoul before they did the first gear revamp in 1.0.

I can shed some light into this matter. Yoshida said that the vanity slot are already made but wasn't able to be implemented before the game started. He said it'll be available in 2.1. Which is the very first patch of the game.
