    AoE problem. Again

Greetings. I know, that AoE bug, when you get damage even if you went out from red round was fixed, but It was fixed not completely. First of all I want to say about situation, when you use a skill while already standing on the red round and if you will get out of it- you will still get damage- the game "thinks", that you are inside the red marking (cone-AoE to). And the second problem- the timing and skill preparings of some AoE attacks are very quick and it is almost imposble to avoid them if you stay rather close to the boss (mob)- you just have no time to run away. One of such bosse- fate boss Steropes in Central Highlands and its wide-radius almost always "oneshoot" AoE. Thank you

Where can I read more about the AoE bug fix you refer to? (googling "AoE bug" + "ffxiv" doesn't give good results).

I can't say I'm having any issues with that at all, not even on Steropes. How good is your connection?

I have ping 150 and lower. Every time I die on this boss because Im close to it and have no time to run away from AoE- problem of too quick boss attack. Can anyone remember the fight with Titan, when you falling down because of it's long AoE through all location? Some times this AoE damages you even you run away from marking on the ground

Since the ping is 150 ms (which is the roundtrip time for a signal sent from your computer to server and back), you need in theory to see that you are outside of the AoE area 0.15 seconds before the enemy AoE animation ends or you'll get hit. If you are still getting hit despite being over 0.5 seconds outside of the area before the animation ends, it is indicating that there is probably a bug or unoptimized code involved.
    ---------------

Edit: To elaborate what may be happening: assume that the delay is multiplied by factor 7. Then if you got 150 ms ping, you need to be outside of the AoE for 7*0.150 s = 1.05 seconds before animation ends or you'll get hit; that's hard.

If you got normally 20 ms ping, you would have to be 7*0.020 s = 0.14 seconds outside of AoE before animation ends or you'll get hit: that's doable.

If you got normally 50 ms ping, you would have to be 7*0.050 s = 0.35 seconds outside of AoE before animation ends or you'll get hit: that may be noticable in several cases.

The problem is: why is the code designed in such way that it multiplies the delay so massively? That may be a bug.

You're not accounting for built in server "latency". The server checks your position every .3 seconds, or 300 ms. Having this "feature", while also struggling with network latency makes it hard pressed to avoid many of the AoEs.

Been having the same issue, the Puk Hatchlings "Fireball" attack is just a circle on the ground, but if you don't leave it immediately you take damage even if you're outside of the circle when it hits. It's been the same with most weaponskills done by human enemies, especially the Marauder types. "Overpower" really hurts on a mage character and you can't escape unless you move backwards as soon as the skill comes up.

I find it much more effectively to run through them when it comes to overpower and most other conal aoes.

Some attacks I just can't avoid, but those ones usually aren't the most devastating.
