Honestly the best option is to stop complaining about the roll system and to join a free company who will take the time to gear you by passing on every item... let me know how that search turns out.

Expecting everyone to follow your code of ethics or playstyle is just going to get you annoyed and frustrated.
Especially with duty finder.
So not only are you saying that we shouldnt greed for the purposes of being greedy but SE shouldnt restrict need rolls on gear so anyone can roll on it? Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were little?@People: Stop "Greeding" loot for your level 0 classes. Especially if your sole purpose for that loot is to hand it in for company seals. This is greedy, selfish, and just downright inappropriate.
@SE: Basic need and greed limited by the job you are currently playing doesn't make sense in a game where you can play every job on the same character.
No the need/greed is almost perfect the way it is. The only thing missing is a way to stop PLD, DRG, and WAR from needing on non-heavy DoW gear after about level 15. If you want another classes gear, play as that class. If you want it for an alt class or to vendor ... greed it. If for some reason you want to be nice and let a teamate win it for whatever purpose then there is the option to pass. Its all there and all fair IMO.
If your class is of level to wear the gear, it is of level to run the content. The servers arent going to scan your characters entire class history just to determine which greed youre eligible for. If your FC is forcing you to play a certain class as you say then they should be willing to pass on gear for you. Otherwise theyre ungrateful brats who dont deserve you sacrificng your game time and playstyle for them.

Reread OP. That is not what I am asking for.
Not to mention, for people that have multiple or all 50's, how do you determine whether their "need for off class" is any different for "greed for vendor"? What would stop someone from rolling for off class on an item, then turning that item in for seals?
The need/greed/pass system is fine the way it is. OP just got frustrated that he kept losing greed rolls that he thinks he deserves more than others.

Fantastic point, one I did not consider, and the only worthwhile thing I've seen you post here.
Obviously no change to the loot system can address this. The problem actually lies in the fact that rare drops are tradable for minuscule amounts of company seals in the first place.
Ok, so say you can turn in one of these rare drops for 1k seals. Or 10k. Are you going to be any less frustrated? Somehow I doubt it.Fantastic point, one I did not consider, and the only worthwhile thing I've seen you post here.

Even if they increased seals for turn ins it would be temporary. The items would will rapidly become "worthless" for trade ins, because everyone would be flooded with company seals, rendering rolls on the items pointless.
The solution here is not your suggestion to fix the roll system, or for the community to "fix their mentality". You need to fix your own mentality and stop throwing a tantrum because you didn't win a roll on an item for the class you refused to play with.

Some of these drops are rare, and incredibly good. If you condone looting this stuff for 100 seals when the same can be had in a single FATE I honestly don't know what to say.
You do not deserve that item any more than someone else. What someone does with an item after winning a non-main-class roll is none of your business. You really need to understand this.
