    Summoner & Fates

Am I the only one that thinks summoners are seriously terrible at fates with lots of monsters? They die too quick, and little to no credit is given because dots do nothing in that time (if you even got chance to get miasma and bio II out) and ruins damage is terrible compared to other classes spam skills.

We have no way of damaging monsters quickly to get credit like most if not all of the other classes.

Am I doing something wrong? Please don't say "use bane more" because things die too quickly for all 3 dots to be applied and then bane spreads to maybe 2 more because its spread radius is absolutely miniscule.

Any tips, hints ect would be appreciated. It's driving me bonkers getting no credit from these fates while everyone else is getting max points because they have instant skills and massive aoes.

I agree, our lack of DPS burst makes it hard for us to compete with other classes in Fates

Ruin II + Energy Drain can provide some burst if things are dying quickly. Your best bet is to join a party, and tab + Ruin II (or Bio in the lower levels) as much as possible. Miasma IIing where things spawn could also get you by, once you're high enough to do that. On Bosses you should be able to play normally.

It does suck at the lower levels a bit, but once you get Miasma II things become infinitely easier. Until then I just spammed Bio while I tabbed and it worked just fine for me.

Another alternative is to borrow skills from the class it's linked to.

From what I learned as a summoner in fates are two things.
    - Ruin II and Energy drain are excellent skills to grab mobs fast and deal damage.
    - Summoners have one set of skills that none of the other classes do not have. A summon egi. Take advantage of it.
My carbuncle/ifrit/titan do fairly well in grabbing mobs first and doing damage. For all you summoners out there,
LEARN how to use your egi summons. There is a reason why there's a steady, guard, sic, heel and so forth. It's
your "2nd half" of your job.
I do believe titan and ifrit have their own little Aoe skills you can use too.

To be honest, you dont even have to do a large amount of contribution to get
    the average rewards from fates.

Tagging and enmity is what seems to matter most for participation. If you haven't noticed, mobs don't actually get tagged to you when just your Egi attacks it until you attack it yourself. Contrary to popular belief, damage done doesn't seem all that important for participation scores.

I have virtually no issues, ever, getting gold in FATES unless I show up late. Even then, I can usually muster a silver in 10-15s.

Ruin II spam. Bio + Bane. Energy Drain. For boss FATES, you can also generate participation by healing the person tanking the boss.

    It's not hard.

Tab - bio - tab -bio. Especially if you get a newly spawned one.

Titan can effectively tank most solo boss fates.

I've only had a problem getting gold as SMN when I either got there late or the fate was being zerged by mulitple parties and I wasn't in one.

I can do fates where I hardly ever get the xp from the monster kill but still get gold.
