Bards and Black Mages are top currently.

Dragoon and Summoner are not far behind.

I don't claim to understand Monks well enough to know what is holding them back but I know something is.

Disagree completely. Each fight certain jobs will pull ahead. SMN and BRD tend to do the best in high movement fights(both those jobs movement dps far exceeds blm) and melee as well as blm accel at fights which has less movement. If you want to use parses as a basis for your argument, it says i beat blms and brds all the time by a modest amount.

Without some kind of "check" being done to make it official it looks like ARC/BARD to me and this is why.
1. Two DoT in the rotation that both gets buffs at higher levels. (Venomous Strike & Wind Bite)
2. Raging Strikes
3. Internal Release
4. Hawk Eye
5.Then Quick Knock that can kit multiple targets and also gets an enhancement later at higher levels as well.
For those that say you may lose DPS while moving...bull crap...only if you don't know how to play you will.
All this and I am not even adding in the other cross class abilities.

I can play that game with any dps watch:

1. 4 DoTs in rotation that can get extended by garuda-egi
2. Pet Damage that does 150+ damage every 2.5 seconds
3. Spur
4. Rouse
5. Fester that does 700ish damage without raging strike and crits for 1k+
6. Bane spreads DoTs to multiple targets, miasma 2 is also AoE as well as Shadow flare
7. Ruin 2 can be cast on the move and since your DoTs that are casted have t be done every so often you have pretty good movement dps even in situations where noone can attack the boss.
