The role of a Pugilist

I thought I had my role down right as a pug, attack the targets in the order they are numbered, do as much damage as possible without taking hate away from the tank if you do back off a bit, during a boss fight if it calls other lesser mobs take them out so they don't kill the casters, while the tank continues to fight the boss. That's the way I played Monk in FFXI and the way I played Pug in FFXIV, is it any different in ARR?

Cause I got a group, I said "Hello" and nothing else, I attacked number targets in order and during the last boss fight I did what I said above to the letter, the tank ended up dying and I used my Limit Break and took out the boss. I was waiting to leave until the tank got raised, but the healer just left without doing it and then the tank goes "I hate Pugs" blacklisted me and left.

So in ARR is a pugs role any different from above? Did I not do something that I was supposed to or are trolls coming out early? Or are pugs generally being hated on now?

Pretty sure when he said he hated pugs he meant Pick up groups. He probably blacklisted everyone in the group not just you.

The game abbreviates it as PGL.
