No wonder MMOs are in the state they are today.
Party member: "Let's go to Lake of Death."
Party member #2: "...Is it really that...uncreative?"
Party member: "Yeah, the company was too uncreative to come up with a good name."
Party member #3: "No, some players dislike creative names so they scaled back to using generic names."
Party member: "Why play a fantasy game then?"
They should be using the lore inside the game everywhere more than they do now if anything.
But...

I used google translate and got this:
Npc Schklickryenryuk : Of all 27 Guilds the Gold Smiths Guild is the most rich one! In your quest you have to bring the Silver Ore to the Black Smiths Guild and exchange it for anOrichalcum Chain!
Player: OK!
Why not do both? In UI's it's very easy to have the proper in game name with (GSM) next to it or some such...
Agreed, they could easily add parenthesis to the side for people who don't know the guilds names. All in all its something small, and I wouldn't mind seeing it. Every little touch of lore adds a bit of life to the game.
I agree. I would really like seeing the actual guild names too.

It reminds me of how in XI you'd check the ferry time and it'd always say it in vanadiel time as spoken by, and then in breaks the earth time, was nice didnt break the balance.
So showing the real name then in breaks the initials would be a nice idea.
I concur. Using the proper guild names would be a nice touch. I wouldn't stop work on the battle system for it, but since we know the Development Team is broken up into sub-teams, I wouldn't mind if the Translation Team took some time to do this for us. It's small, and honestly it's a little too late for us already playing. But for the new guys that start playing with the PS3 release, it would add to the immersion.
Remember, were not only trying to improve this game for us ... but for them too.
Players now are to lazy to even think in a mmo i don't know why would you even play a mmo and pay money for it. If you have only 1hour per day that only 30hours a month lol. If you really have to dumb it for players with names then god help us all,.

Seriously, I think SE has a translation team obsessed with overcomplicating and elaborating on terms already (this isn't a bad thing), I don't think a few boards are going to cause the end of the immersion you people look for so desperately.
That said, if someone's got a spare 5 minutes to change the text I guess the select few might appreciate it.
I agree that they could have named them more obviously rather than breaking out the thesaurus. If they had done this then people would have far less of a problem with the idea of using the actual names. I mean, 'Quiver's Hold', sure. But 'Eshtaime's Lapidaries'? What the...
As far as I'm concerned, the guild is a group within a named location. eg. the Musketeer's Guild is found within Coral Tower and Sunsilk Tapestries is a store that also houses the Weaver's Guild. I guess each guild runs a store, and each store houses the guild. But for me, they are two seperate entities, hence there is a guild merchant and a merchant.
So if you're talking a location, talk the location, if you're talking the group, talk the group.
"The Blacksmith's Guild is looking for someone to craft a few nuggets out of ore for them. Go to Naldiq & Vymelli's and hand them in to Notrelchamps"
