    It's easy to earn Gil RIGHT NOW, because the majority of players still have Quests to run and earn Gil from, and their repair costs are paltry at best. Eventually, the majority of players will be running dungeons and won't have Quests to earn that Gil, so it will get harder and harder to earn Gil as time passes, assuming the cost to repair items remains as it is currently.

    i did 1-50 in 5 days and make 250K gold just do story and pretty slowly.. "china farmer" with 1,5 USD per day can create new char every day and make this procedure much faster

    Dailies, make dungeon mobs drop gil.. like 50 gil per trash mob per player (and get people away from those silly FATEs for a change while also making people inclined to play dungeons as they're meant to be played rather than this speedrun nonsense all in one artful stroke), make things vendor for reasonable prices... lot of ways to do this, SE.

    Most of those sites are blowing smoke anyways. just a way to steal accounts. since you cant transfer characters and slots are limited, they are basically selling snake oil.

    I suspect it was designed this way out of fear that someone (*cough* gil sellers *cough*)would abuse a quest/mechanism like the Moat Carp-San'Doria quest and inflate the economy like a balloon.

    But yes, something needs to be done about it.

    The darkmater removal from gathering nodes is a Gil Sink that took things a little to far.

    I wonder if Someone ask the question in the next live letter "How much gil was spent on teleports and repairs since early access Vs. How much gil was brought into the game via NPC/Quests?" would they answer

    That would only provide relevant data a few months down the road when most people are at endgame.

    Besides, as was pointed out earlier, simply making Dark Matter farmable again simply means that people with time to make multiple level 50 crafts can repair their gear for "free", while everyone else is still screwed. Crafters need to be able to repair the gear of other players as well to truly begin to smoothe things over.

    Or those of you complaining about making gil can actually put some effort into making gil. Certain crafts have leve quests that you can use to level X craft right in town and turn leves in for gil. Combine that with DOL and *gasp* you can make gil. I just made 30k this am crafting. Have another 100 in the hopper when all is said and done.

    I will admit there is on a personal level little gold generation.

    however crafting still gets good amounts of money, so you can still make plenty of money off other players.
    (which admittedly is not gold generation but gold transfer)

    I doubt its going to be a long term issue, they just are not letting the Gil economy go out of control. the fact you individually cant make too much adventuring means the average Gil has more value, Right now the markets are a little crazy but they will calm down, and an items cost is based on supply and demand, with of course consideration into what people can actually pay. This just makes the Repair penalty mean something, at least that is all it is for me.

    For a lot of players, the issue isnt "How do I become RICH!!!", its how do I, at endgame, with good gear, make enough to cover my repair bills, so that I can run dungeons and 8 mans with my friends and FC, WITHOUT having to "farm".

    A lot of people are saying "go do this, farm that, sell this, and get rich." Well, I am a grad student, I have maybe 4-5 hours in the evening to play. Of those, 3-4 hours, 3-4 nights a week, will soon be spent running some of the harder endgame content with my FC. I have neither the time, nor the interest, to spend my remaining hour leveling X profession and farming Y material so I can make enough cash to cover my repair bills at the end of the night... That sounds like a job... This is first and foremost a game, and as a player, playing a game, I should not be forced to farm for cash in order to break even after doing a dungeon.

    In an ideal world, a player should be able to do a dungeon, with 1-2 wipes, and after repairing, come out with "slightly" more gil than they had. This is very easily achieved by making all mobs in dungeons simply drop gil for every player in the group. A little less for trash, a little more for bosses.
    No RNG component, no farming. A player should be able to do a dungeon in tier appropriate gear and come out ahead financially.
    Hell, a player should be able to do a dungeon that they are overgeared for, and STILL come out ahead financially... That is a sustainable way of playing for combat classes. If such a system does not exist, and you end up forcing people at endgame to farm gil in their free time, then soon enough everyone but the hardcore gamers, the market gurus, and the "I have all the time in the world" gil farmers... will leave.
