No offense, but people who have no idea what this thread are talking about should shut up and be quiet.
This would be fine if quests were repeatable. Most people envision that 2.1 will fix much of the problems with the economy right now, as dailies are supposed to be introduced. That doesn't help anyone right now though. Plus, who knows when 2.1 will actually be here.Out of interest; How often do you accept the Allagan coin rewards for doing quests?
I dare say you can make a fair bit from all of those.
I'm so used to people on the forums complaining that there's too much money in the economy, that we need MORE gil sinks, its unusual to see threads claiming the opposite.
@Ironhelix: I don't even know what to say. I feel like plenty of people have addressed this already. But anyway, I didn't skyrocket to Lv50. I took my time, I read every single piece of dialogue in every single quest and story, watched every single cutscene, did all my logs, and enjoyed my time getting to Lv50. And I picked the money choice for most of my rewards. Again, this isn't about personal wealth. This is about finding ways to create gil for the necessity of the game. Again, this not about making money for yourself.
Honestly though, in one ear and out the other for a lot of you.

Same can be said to you, in one ear out the other... doesnt help people who DONT know what the thread is about keep chiming in though. This would be fine if quests were repeatable. Literally everyone posting about how easy it is to make gil is having the point fly so far over their head that it's under their feet. The NPCs run the economy. It's not about making gil, it's about keeping it cycling through the player base, not being deposited into NPC's that don't let you withdraw.
Dark matter should be able to be mined or smelted via blacksmithing with carbonized matter or something, and SE should bring back player repairs (I remember hearing that they planned to do the later). Even if you need a relatively high mining skill for higher grade Dark matter that would at least offer an easy and cheap source for dark matter to enter the economy and let players repair their own and other players gear. I'd probably set up shop in town and offer to repair others gear for a small stipend of my time and effort for mining and leveling my Armorer. Does it solve the massive gil issue? Not really but it will allow for the small amounts of gil you earn at lv 50 to last a bit longer.
This way in case they don't ever increase gil rewards from Fates/Dungeons/Leves repairing gear for level 50s will be way less painful.
I lol hard at ppl who dont understand the OP at all.
Yeah we need a way to make GIL from the game itself and not the palyerbase.(lets see if folks will understand that)
Here's a tip,
Stop using the teleport every time you gotta leave somewhere beyond 5 yalms.
I missed it the first time around, but I do understand what you are saying now. How was FFXI different? It seems there were less ways that gil was introduced into the system in that one? I know some hated the economy, I liked it....
