the problem isnt 1-49 , because at that level repairing isnt a problem u have quests to do and everything is "fine"

come 50 , when u have 0 quest to do and have farmed some gear the repair cost SKYROCKET , hell nearly 3k and my gear is at 65% ?

when at max lvl as battle class u are losing money everytime u play , something is wrong.

now every1 is leveling and have money generated by quests/legacy gil

when only a few are leveling and 90% of the server have NO way of generating gil.... what gonna happen? who is going to buy anything at MW?

i stoped playing my 50 because that ....i know that if i keep going to dungeons i will be poor in no time......begging in the streets of uldah for gil to repair

I really don't see how anyone has money troubles. Granted, I started with 200k gil due to what I made in 1.0, but I never went below 200k. I teleport everywhere (I've spent at least 20-25k gil on teleports so far) and I've still managed to make 100k+ profit without using my crafting classes. I think one big thing people overlook is Guildhests. That and selling Allagan pieces you get from Dungeons... though if people are doing speed runs, they're probably missing out on the money.

Disclaimer: This is not my main character. My main is a 50 PLD.

From leveling you make tons of money. Allegan coins from quests plus quest rewards and one off bonuses for things are very lucrative. However all of these things are one time pay offs.

Next consider this. Once you are in level 50 gear the cost for repairs is higher than you can make back with the gil creation mechanisms.

So we have less money coming in than going out. As time goes on there will be less and less money in the economy. Eventually there will be too little money for the economy to function. Even worse repair costs will still be there. This means an individual will only be able to play the game as much as their repairs allow.
Incorrect. FATEs are not one-off bonuses. Dungeons are not one-off bonuses (allagan pieces). Guildhests are not one-off bonuses. Leves are not one-off bonuses. All of those activities generate gil (assuming you don't speed run dungeons). And then there's always gathering and crafting, which don't generate gil, but exchange existing gil.

You are also HUGELY wrong about less money coming in than going out. If you never do any of the above activities, then that's just poor judgement on your part. Plenty of people make well more than enough money than they need to repair.

See the number of people at each of these fates? Its the same at almost every fate 15-45 in every zone.
Try just try counting the number of players at any of these 40-50+ b4 losing count. None of those players will have a repair bill over the gil they earning not one like ppl said the gear they wear is CRAP with almost no repair cost.

Now go to any zone and look at the maps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR1dfpvx-zY is some of the most popular zones with 1-4 active fates at any given time with avg completion time of 1:30-2:00 after starting.

All that adds up, and thats only 1 way the game is generating gil, read all posts before with other ways gil being generated into the game.

Im sorry but I just dont see the repair costs of a few handful of groups running end game content surpassing the gil being generated by the masses.

Man, people really don't get it. No one is complaining about MAKING money. We know that if we just spend hours on a Gathering class, or leveling up a Crafter, we have the potential to make money. The entire thread is about the game itself CREATING gil. All the money you spend on repairs, or buying cheap NPC gear, or mats, vanish into the aether, never to be seen from again. Gil sinks are fine, as long as there are gil fountains. Right now, the game has little to no fountains.

I'm not even in a desperate situation right now, I have around 200K which will last me for a bit. But any low level player who comes in here thinking that their 30K gil is gonna last once they hit 50, have another thing coming. You lose durability on your gear just from being in combat.

If you're smart, you'll do anything in your power to avoid spending gil, because unless you don't like playing the game (y'know, killin' stuff), repairs will eat away at your gil very fast.

I am assuming these posts are made by people who rocket to level cap without learning any DOL or DOH jobs? I have more money than I know what to do with, and I'm not even trying. People need to actually PLAY the game...

Out of interest; How often do you accept the Allagan coin rewards for doing quests?

I dare say you can make a fair bit from all of those.

I'm so used to people on the forums complaining that there's too much money in the economy, that we need MORE gil sinks, its unusual to see threads claiming the opposite.
