A little rage from a Tank

So I was playing the role of tank and go on to join Thousand Maw. The Duty Finder finds me a party consisting of a Conjurer, Archer and Thaumaturge. Okay cool, I can deal with this, however as soon as we get started, the archer pulls ahead and aggros 3 mobs and then runs far away from the rest of us before he finally starts to try his hand at tanking them all.

My initial reaction is to not do anything. He wants to tank? Sure, lets let him tank.
However, he then starts complaining about my not helping in FULL CAPS, and then begins to say I'm a bad tank. I explain to him that he's an impatient, idiot DPS and hilariously, he agrees about being impatient but says I'm still a bad tank, (I haven't even done anything yet lol)

So we go on down the dungeon and I'm trying my best to do my job. I mark and number my targets, pull aggro, switch targets to keep all hate on me if I think I'll lose some etc.., but this Archer keeps spamming AoE and does rush DPS afterwards towards mobs that the rest of us aren't even hitting, making him take hate at some intervals. The healer at this point is fed up with him and just lets him die and after all mobs are dead I have to explain for the fourth time to this guy.

    1) I mark the mobs for a reason >.> So you can kill them in the order I mark them. This way I keep hate easier with a rotation and know which mob you all are going for, therefore, you don't take hate and we get through this run.
    2) If you take hate by any chance... PLease do not run around the room or far away from me and then get mad because I didn't take the hate from you. I'm sticking right where I am unless you're reasonably close by. I'm not gonna chase you down the hallway to take hate that you should have been smart enough to not have gained in the first place.

So please, those of you who favor DPS jobs, I know the job is fun but the job is also pretty easy. Don't tank. Don't take hate. Don't run to the other side of the map if you do take hate and don't be a twat.

Other than this one time though, Instances have always been fun

Unfortunately idiots like him are the reason people give up in the early levels and you get a lot less tanks and healers. There aren't many it's just very noticeable when you do find one, best thing is to just leave and wait 15 mins. Chances are they'll have to wait an hour for another dungeon.

Dps just need to learn to manage their own aggro there are aggro bars in the game if your not a tank and yours is getting full then it is time to lay off a bit

Heh yeah I've seen this and I'm DPS. I honestly don't know what some people are thinking, or it's their first time in a dungeon. I've also noticed some that have decided that adds are not for them, they just stick to the boss. I've had to resort to AoE'ing adds in a boss fight by myself (not the preferred method mind you). I guess no one is familiar with focus fire anymore. In addition, I don't think people are really watching the tank's targeting (just because the tank moved forward doesn't mean they pulled yet!), as I've seen many DPS pull just before the tank does. That won't work out well. As far as AoE spamming...maybe they think they have Fan of Knives or something (lol).

Well said. I'm a DRG and something that frustrates me during runs is to see the other DPS go full retard and pull and then run away from us. Why on earth do people think that running away from the tank will save their life when they have aggro? The tank will have problems trying to get the mob back and the melee dps will have problems attacking the mobs because it's almost impossible to hit a moving target with melee attacks.

I play dps and althought I do my best not to I still sometimes pull hate from a enemy in the mob. Since I'm a thm I have two simple solutions I can take and both always keep me alive and let's the tank take the hate back with ease in most cases. I will either use my sleep skill to stop it and keep attacking what tank is till he can et to is. Or if it a boss I pulled by accident using my instant attacks for quicker hits I sill stand in place and using my heal spell I got from my arcanist to heal when I got below 50% so that I don't pull more unwanted hate from healing to much. Both concepts have given the tank the time to take back control fairly quickly every time. U will admit I sometime pull ahead of tank on runs but I only pull using sleep do that all tank has to do is use flash and thy have all the hate. I mainly do this in narrow areas do that we don't get swarmed to quickly.

    Happens all the time.
    Ignore and move on.

I run into this on every alt class I try.
You'd think after waiting in queue for 40+ minutes, DPS classes would be more patient and would try to at least enjoy the dungeon more...

I'm complaining because though the process of informing an idiot that they're being an idiot and showing them how to fix what they're doing is a long and arduous process which also sucks. I'm still gonna do it with the hopes that my efforts will better the community as a whole, since the person will now know what to do and maybe pass along the knowledge to someone else who doesn't know how to play their class.
I'm complaining because maybe I'm hoping that on these forums 1 person out of 100 will read this and say "Oh I'm like playing DPS. I guess I shouldn't do that shit."

It's people helping people man (Well not the complaining part lol). Not trying to put you down or anything. However the mentality of your statement is just a runaway quick fix. Not an actual solution. But I guess my type of thinking is outdated or something, considering the majority of people from what I've seen just do what you've suggested instead of you know. Actually helping others. :/ None the less, I shall continue to be THAT guy who through the frustrations, tries to get the idiot DPS to understand how to play their role...and then complain about it on forums later.
