Another factor of there being few tanks/healers

It makes perfect sense to sell items that are needed by tanks and healers for 4-5 times everything else that is need by other classes definately doesn't make tanks and healers want to not play their classes on top of the terrible people or elitist fools

Ex Quicktongue Materia lll sells for 93-150k on markets while others like Savage Might lll selling for 15-20k. Also Battledance lll for the tanks is 53k right now

seriously people come on it's already hard enough for people to make gil in this game especially if they don't craft (yet) stop being greedy and help the needed classes out

With a price like that, I'm just trying to spiritbond my own weapons and convert them to materia. Seems like the only way I'll be able to get my hands on the mats 'easily' at the moment. :s

Stuff that is in high demand will sell for higher prices. That is how the free market works.

If people refuse to buy, they will be forced to lower prices.

Join a linkshell for healers. Someone will craft the materia you need for a much nicer amount of money to your wallet.

    We understand your pain ^^

So, there are 3-4x as many (conservative estimate, probably way more) Damage players as there are Tanks and Healers, so Tank/Healer materia is in higher demand? That doesn't even make sense.

Actually, it's the availability that can drive a price up, and considering there's less healers and tanks, I'd imagine their materia/items are less available on the market.
The fact that it drives up the price, is because those few that do sell it have a rather free market to play in. However, as with all economy, if it doesn't sell, the price will have to lower... it's only a matter of time that the sellers will realize.

"Definition of 'Law Of Supply And Demand': A theory explaining the interaction between the supply of a resource and the demand for that resource. The law of supply and demand defines the effect that the availability of a particular product and the desire (or demand) for that product has on price.

Generally, if there is a low supply and a high demand, the price will be high. In contrast, the greater the supply and the lower the demand, the lower the price will be.
    "

So, In theory you could also have a great supply with a great demand, and therefore the price will be high.

It looks like it is mostly down to what is provided/crafted by the DoH, also the market is still pretty new and will take some time to level out, as sellers start to see what is selling and what isn't.
