    [Suggestion] Market Wards Enhancement Ideas

    This is an new extension thread on my previous one for the suggestion of Luggage:

    I'm continuing on with my thoughts provoked from another thread. This particular thread believed an auction house would destroy the current economy. What I'd like to explain here are some of my ideas on how to improve the markets we have now without the implementation of an auction house or an item history.

    Currently with the system, on our retainers we have 10 slots for selling items we've collected through various means, or purchasing more of an item we already currently have. One of my suggestions is to have two separate tabs for this. That way we have 10 slots for selling items, and 10 slots for purchasing items.

    Another thought on this topic is: being able to select an item you wish to buy without owning it, and the number of which you wish to buy.

    Example: If I want to buy a 10 blacklip oysters and I have 0, why can't I still try to buy some? It's always seemed rather unnecessary to me to actually own at least one of an item you wish to buy, and then you can only 'seek' as many as you have.

    If I only have one blacklip oyster, and I want 99, how tedious is it that I have to keep putting up "seek item: black oyster, amount 1, price 1,000 gil" essentially?

    This idea would also require updating the retainer wards search feature not only to search for what people are selling, but also the option to search for what people are buying. That way it is easier to get an idea of what people want to buy and helps to drive the community's economy.

    (Also, I think it would be beneficial to have an option where you can continue to buy an item and not only 1, 5, 10, for a set amount based off of how many you currently own.

    Example: WTB infinity blacklip oyster for 1,000 gil each. People can continue to sell it to me until I run out of gil in my retainer. In the event you run out of gil, people can no longer sell to you and your buying offers leave the search feature.)

    And even though in this system scenario, there is not an item buying history, people could still clearly see what people are selling and buying items for currently which can help stabilize the prices of things as the items are available. Supply and demand anyone? =)

    With this possible outcome for the retainer wards as well as the possible 'luggage' implementation idea I had in my other thread, I think that the buying/selling/ and economy of FFXIV could be more easily accessible and regulated. Please feel free to check out that thread's suggestion as well.


    Any other further ideas from anyone? Anything here you think could possibly be improved upon or that appears faulty? Please post your ideas and thoughts as well as discuss this idea. =)

    Just some ideas. I think the market wards could also have an AH on top of it with bidding and such going on. An ebay like market would be really nice. And just like ebay, if you like a seller you could go to their (retainer) and see what else they might be selling (or buying). I think it could be an ideal situation for all. But I'm not interested in a price history of any kind. =p


    Edit: Also, as far as tabs go, I think it should allow 1 tab for selling, 1 tab for buying, 1 tab for repairs, etc. Each action you can do in your bazaar I think should be split up into several tabs. It's a headache trying to take down items to get gear repaired and such so this could be a betters solution.

    These are also just fundamental ideas and not ascetic ones. I would love things like more interesting wards and retainers, but I'm trying to be realistic. Besides, if they allowed people to buy from the search menu, not many people would be zoning anymore.

    I actually think that if people can search for what others are 'buying' (as well as selling) it could possibly work better/faster than an auction house. I'm not sure how they'd make it so you can select what to purchase though, if you don't own the item. Possibly they could make it like they have the wards now.

    Example: If someone has ever sold the item in the current search feature, then you should be able put it up in your retainer as you are 'buying' it in whatever number you desire. Just like how now we can look at that item to see if anyone is selling it in the current search feature.

    Yeah I never try to buy anything from my retainer or my person because it's useless. No one will ever see it which only makes me have to search harder. x.x

    The more I use the market system, the more I'm beginning to love it more than an auction house. That's just my opinion. Yeah it does need more work, and I'm ok with that. I love your suggestion, and really would love it if it got put in. It would make the market system work a lot better.
