Thoughts on Materia

I've been doing some searching lately and was wondering if there's been any work done in 2.0 as to how to go about getting the types of Materia you want. On Diabalos, I'm not seeing any level IV Materia and III Materia that's priced all over the place.

With that said, anyone have any idea how to get consistent results with Materia? Will different stats on equipment change what you get, or is it more dependent on what type of armor it is? Would socketing a level 49 ring and then assimilating it give better chances for higher level materia? Etc.

It seems to be based on the item type. Caster items seem to give caster-appropriate materia, gathering items give gathering type materia, and so on.

What's much more of an issue in my mind is how none of the end-game gear has any materia slots.

i70 Crafted gear has slots, the Darklight doesn't and intended.

What level of materia you get is entirely dependent on the item level of the piece converted. Apparently the only way to get tier IV from what I've heard is level 55+ gear (Either the level 55 gear like DoH/DoL AF or militia/imperial gear, or the real insane could convert the level 70 endgame sets like Vanya or Darksteel)

I miss the enmity/Hate +/- Materia from 1.0. u_u I hope they bring it back.
