can I master every job?

just what the title says do i have the ability to become a master at every job type or do i have to specialize in one particular job and only focus on that one job? like say do i have the ability to be an effective tank an effective healer and an effective dps just by switching jobs or is that impossible?

Well, it all depends upon your ability to personally fall into each role. The Character can learn and use every single class and Job. As far as Mastery goes, that is a personal thing, not a Character thing.

well someone told me that you get stat points after 30 that can only be allocated into one job slot so that would basically render all other jobs non viable or something ot that extent

They reset when you change class.

From what i know arcanist is the only class where you have to specialize after 30 as scholar goes mind and summoner goes intellect, besides that class you can pretty much master each class as you only focus 1 or 2 stat depending on the class.

so if i want to play as a strength type i can put points into strength and vitality and then when i play as acaster type i can put points inot int and vit and they will all be independant of each other?

Yes, as long as its not SCH and SMN as their points are shared (if you put INT into SMN, your SCH will have the same INT). Any other job has individual point allocation.

In the future similar setups as with Arcanist may become available for other classes (more than one job per class).
