Mage gear in Brayflox - is it actually there?

so, an entire day spent running Brayflox's Longstop in search of the battlemage equipment and we get 2 pieces in 6 runs.

ton of melee DD weapons, lances, hora's, 3 shields, 4 sets of plate gloves, few aetherial pieces but mostly DoW DD stuff, in a party of casters with a Warrior tank.


Has anyone crunched the numbers on drop rates? noticed any way to increase the chance of these items dropping? we've got 2 people in this group both wanting the chest piece from the battlemage set and frankly it looks like we'll be in that dungeon exclusively till we hit level 50 at this kind of drop rate..

Oh it's in there, trust me. As a tank, I am used to getting tank gear (not my fault :P), but the last two times i ran it, I'd say 70% of the loot was Disciple of Magic.

There's no rhyme or reason, since one of our group got an entire set this morning including two pieces in one run, it makes absolutely no sense...

Loot list should change depending on what your party make up is, that way dungeons would provide loot people could actual use.

honestly one of three solutions could work here

1 - loot set purely on who enters, so only loot for those classes will drop (though if a tank with full gear already enters its a waste.. complex to set up a gear-checking program adaptable to every possible combination for entry)

2 - tokens instead of loot, swappable for the items you want from an NPC outside (could include a cash alternative for them as well)

3 - NPC who will trade an unwanted item for one you want (if you get DoW stuff as a mage you can trade it for the same piece for your class, hands for hands, chest for chest etc)

any of those will resolve this madness! XD

ran that place several tomes and never got one Magic piece, nothing. Regardless, I hate that place and will never run it again. I hate to sound like a Debbie Downer but I'm getting tired of FFXIV already. Titan may be my last straw. Good luck, peeps.

I started running brayflox at 32, and literally got enough experience, just through rerunning and rerunning Flox in attempt to get the battlemage body, to 41 before I decided "screw it." In all those runs, I didn't even see the body drop. Not once.

It's random but from all my runs, mage gears do drop a bit less, especially the battlemage ones. I got both cavalry and infantry sets for my WAR and MNK but my FC mate still didn't get his full battlemage. The aetherial velveteen drops too frequently IMO.

Ran Brayflox's 11 times as a BLM, only ever won the hat and boots. I've since run Darkhold 6 times, and only seen one piece of caster loot on which I rolled a 7. The game just really kicks you when you're down sometimes.

I've done it many times on both WHM & BLM... I am still missing the hat, belt, pants.... I have shoes, chest, gloves.

No you're not dreaming, it takes forever. I mostly see Disciple of War gear.
