For some reason when I move my mouse at all, my fps goes form 60+ to 20-. If I use a gamepad everything is flawless, if I turn with the keyboard flawless, but the moment I move my mouse. crippling frame lag. I have a pretty high end system.

Care to post your specs? This is a wide problem though, I myself suffer from it.
I did some digging, and it turns out in 1.0 people had this issue. But it was resolved by enabling Hardware mouse. That option doesn't seem to be available in 2.0.

try other mouse yet?
Temp fix. thanks for pointing me in the right direction kingXray. I found that lowering my mouse's polling rate to 125 from 1000 significantly reduced the lag kick. it still reduces it, but it only drops about 10 fps, which is regained in surplus by disabling the 60 fps cap. though that makes my card run a little hotter than I like. Considering I don't think I'll be doing any sniping in FFXIV, its a playable fix. I don't know how lowering my mouse's refresh rate improves game performance, but I guess it has something to do with cross platform compatibility.
