Masamune is for legacy players, a bunch of new players decided on Tonberry. So there are a couple to choose from.
I still dont understand the reasoning on choosing american servers, yea there's more English speaking players, but they don't play the same timezone....Also most Japanese players understand English anyway. And while you're correct yea, after the free period numbers will decline, but they will decline on all servers. In any case, 120-200 ping with minor cultural and language barrier > 300 ping and playing with bad Americans who all come with a +75% chance to enrage when you try to kindly explain the fight to them.
<--- not legacy...
Anyway, yea theres still serious performance issues with the client / server, part of the problem is that its only a tickrate of 3(Planetside a 2003 MMO has a tickrate of 5) so even if you move out ontime there still a chance your data wont be polled and you will get hit anyway. Being a PVE game i dont see why they couldnt use serverside hit predilection like all FPS games use for sanity checking. everything is done with timestamps, so even if you're delayed by 200ms you would still have asmuch time to react as somebody on 0 ping.
Another thing i dont get is how the servers are even processing data, we were doing chimera the other night too and i would see the cast bar for rams voice, before the end of it i could see and hear our offtank cast silence (not on DR) and the rams voice still went off. what i dont get is...how i can have the packet of our tank interrupting the rams voice before the rams voice goes off...but the server doesn't account for it...for me to have the packet of our off tank interrupting it has to go to the server first before it gets to me...it makes absolutely no sense. This happened multiple times, we finally got the MF down though, it resulted in the loss of many kittens.
I cant see us getting AU or SG servers though, they dont have servers for EU FFS.
they really need to up the tickrate or add prediction to the server.

Not sure, Behemoth has been amazing so far.. players during all time-zones and there's heaps of Oceanic Free Companies so there's peak time during all hours.
Like Rekujen says above me, Behemoth has been amazing. It is totally packed at all hours, there are Oceanics from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea, the Phillopines and I even have 3 Americans living in Japan in our guild. If this latency wasn't causing so much grief, I'd never consider leaving.I still dont understand the reasoning on choosing american servers, yea there's more English speaking players, but they don't play the same timezone....Also most Japanese players understand English anyway. You're not really giving a reason to come to the JP servers though if the same issue is prevailent on both.Anyway, yea theres still serious performance issues with the client / server, part of the problem is that its only a tickrate of 3(Planetside a 2003 MMO has a tickrate of 5) so even if you move out ontime there still a chance your data wont be polled and you will get hit anyway. YEEAAHYAAA Australia!!!!
From Sydney and I play on fenrir with some guys in NA. Will let you know how it goes with Titan etc
NBN anyone? O wAIT saturday elections..........GG THAT!
Melbourne Aus. Just sayin'.
I have one character on Behemoth and i get at best ping 310, i saw Tonberry open today so i added a character and the ping is about 200 for me in Brisbane a bit better.
Tonberry seems open earlyish and i saw mostly Western named players there luckily.
Had a girl in my Titian group kept getting knocked off. She said "I cant help it I live in Australia." I said "wtf does that have to do with anything" Now I understand. I apologize.

Yeah, I'm from NZ, it's kinda crazy. When I played Titan I had to kinda predict when his knock-you-over-the-edge are coming and start running before they even appear. :o
And I had trouble dodging those big butt AoEs in Ifrit.
I actually just did Chimera last night for the first time and it was pretty fun, but I didn't have any problems otherwise. Probably because I was lucky that none of his AoEs were near me, lol
