Suggestion: Chat Background Transparency

Not only is it hard to read with moving background, but i am colorblind.

It doesn't matter what color i set the chat txt to if the background changes i cannot read it and get headaches.

Please, i just need a black background so i can see what is in chat. ;.;

BUMP! Is this not the most frustrating thing ever? I play on my HDTV and I have to move my camera to dark backgrounds just to read ANYTHING. How on earth has this not been addressed? Rawr.

That's a really good question, I go through that all the time myself. It's very annoying when I have to adjust my camera to read stuff and half the time I just start ignoring chat, depending on where I am and what I'm doing.

Of course, I still want the FFXI vanishing chatlog too ...

I second this notion. While we're on the topic of the chat, can there be a toggle for the chat to fade after a period of inactivity?

Does anyone know if there's a similar thread on the Japanese forums? Maybe someone can translate the concerns - which are very real and physically damaging - to actually get some attention from Squeenix? I'm starting to think they don't read this stuff at all. x.x

This is an issue with the PC version. The PS3 versions uses the same amount of transparency for the chat log so the issue must be with the text characters themselves.

You can remedy the issue also by increasing the font size or decrease the game resolution.

Unfortunately, increasing the font size does not remedy the issue. I've already increased it significantly, but it does not deal with the root of the problem: the constantly shifting, cluttered, and bright background of the environment makes picking out details like lettering almost impossible.
