Please assign a GM to watch RMT /shouts

Please ask an SGM from each shift to keep up a live chat log of each main city up on one of their screens. Please have them IP-ban anyone who advertises an RMT site, ban any payments from that account's credit cards, or whatever it takes.

Blacklisting is no longer a viable solution--everyone's just removing /shout from their chat log entirely because, in cities, you can't keep up with /blacklisting everyone. Hell, in Ul'dah at present, I can't even right-click a name before another RMT shout moves it up.

I realize your support team is needed elsewhere, but it can't be up to the playerbase to fill out a ticket with EVERY RMT's name (which is what my most recent ticket instructed me to do)...

Surely you can spare (or hire) someone to monitor chat logs on all servers?

I have a different philosophy - just get rid of it. Don't really care how, just make it stop. SE, its up to you. Make it happen.

Yeah, though I have to really wonder about how much these morons know about business. Spamming a constant stream of text can't possibly win that many customers... the sad thing is that the ONLY reason they exist is because SOMEONE is buying. Shout is completely owned by the spammers now.

I have played a lot of other new launch MMOs that had the same problem but they also had a right click menu to blacklist in chat. This was never really a serious thing to me because I could blacklist in like 2 seconds.

I report at least 5-6 of these every time I play, and I've yet to get any sort of acknowledgement message from SE . Maybe I'm bugging them too much? ;0

I hope the policy changes. If we actually have to report each gilseller before there is an investigation, that's going to create a preposterous number of GM tickets that will slow down responses to real issues, while a single GM could conceivably take care of everything.

Easy answer, A few years back, Blizzard enacted a spam-filter on it's trade (and a few other) channels. The filter is able to remove a good percentage of the advertisements by silencing the users that shot-gun entries into the channel until a certain period of time passes.

This should be something that Square is able to do, and doing something like this will both clear the shout (and other large range) channels of a majority of RMT spam as well as trolls who are shotgunning entries into the chat.

I wouldn't suggest putting this feature into /say, /p, /fc or any of the /ls channels though; /sh and /y could benefit from the filter though.

I always include all this information in the message when I report such people. If you include all the relevant details they can deal with these people more rapidly.

I like how you guys expect them to work 24/7. It's like your there bosses and your telling them what to do, basically you guys sound like this. SE GM team you work for me, you can't visit your family, go on vacation, you must stay watching the chat on each server 24/7, no bathroom break, no getting distracted, no cell phones, no lunch break, exc.

They can't ban the RMT bots if they don't know where to look at, they can't be at all the zones all the time. That's where WE come in. You're asking them to go look for RMT without information. Basically telling them to look blindly for a missing kid without anyone stepping out and giving leads. If you want SE to get on the case, report and don't just blacklist.

FFXI actually had a spam filter than stopped most of the RMT stuff, if I recall correctly. They simply haven't implemented their chat filter here, yet. It's one of the things they're looking to implement soon, though, as mentioned here:
