There was a developer comment back in beta (maybe even when 1.0 official service was running) stating that certain gear won't be restricted by which classes can actually equip it because they recognize the desire for folks to wear different gear while in town and stuff. (vanity gear) This is why the Toxote Tunic does not have a ARC/BRD only restriction.

The equip rules and looting rules are two different things. As others in this thread have helpfully tried to point out, there is no STR on the body piece which means the armor is not functionally suitable for a MNK. The only way you will be able to need on this gear is to play as an ARC/BRD because the gear stats favor their classes.

There's nothing further you can really hope to accomplish in this thread. That gear is not an upgrade for your MNK, regardless whether you want it or not. You're just going to have to win on a greed roll if you ever want to get it unless you actually play an ARC/BRD.

So you don't have the lvl 45 af boots from your class quest that are undeletable? Because those are far and away better because of the dex over str.

To that end, the AF chest you get at level 50 is far and better than the chest he posted up above that he feels like he so badly "needs".

And thank God for the lodestone being implemented like this. So when someone makes comments about something you can find out how much they really "KNOW" on the subject. OMG End game content needs a nerf, too hard (checks lodestone to see highest class is only level 30... got it... ignore and move on)

To the OP, I do not think that NEED means what you think it means.

Need: Something that is an upgrade to your class to make you a better player.
Greed: Something I wish to have because "reasons".

Since the stats for the item is not for your class/job it is not "technically" an upgrade. If it is *somehow* better than what you are already wearing, then you are already in for a world of fail because they HAND you better gear for your class than those pieces would equate to at level 40 and higher. Seriously, the lack of main stat on this item makes it the equivalent of a piece of level 40 gear (if not much lower).

And to the point that they need to spell it out to you how to play properly, they do. If you choose not to READ something that is your own fault. As others have pointed out, merely opening your character sheet up and hovering over the "strength" and "dexterity" stats plainly tell you that strength increases melee damage and dexterity increases ranged damage. Tell me, how many of your abilities are actually classified as a "ranged" ability in the tooltip? Oh... that's right, NONE OF THEM.
