No, it's not that hard.
No, it's not that hard.
Manaward (BLM) stops the knockback from pushing you. Not sure if this is intended or not. Or I got lucky every time I put up Manaward and somehow dodged.
Yup, not that it'll stop to terrible DPs from blaming everyone else but themselves. Had a DF group yesterday that took about 12 min just to get through to the first boss, and when we kept wiping to Demon Wall because they still couldn't kill the adds after TWO repulse cycles(while keep getting hit by the floor), the SMN turns around and say that the problem is that they aren't getting enough heals.
I'm usually very patient, but at that point I just gave up and left.
exact same thing with exact same class happened to me last night. I guess I will have to do this dungeon with buddies onlyYup, not that it'll stop to terrible DPs from blaming everyone else but themselves. the only things that make undergeared people fail in this is tank fail to grab bees agro.
It's not broken at all, it's so simple to do it. I'm main BLM and I can tell you that's very simple.
Left : one cast. Move right : another cast. Left again : one cast. Right again : you can cast twice since you must stay mid for Repel. And again, again again, with the difference that you have to do it targetting the gnats until they die, then again on the wall.
Since I'm being used, I do now x2 cast or 3 if I'm in thundercloud or firestarter, but try for now only casting one spell, to get used to pattern's timing.
I hope I've been helpful.

As a smn I completely disagree. The pattern is extremely simple and runs at a nice slow pace. The LB for smn/blm is perfect for this fight too. As far as reduction in dps is concerned it is virtually non-existent because as a smn I have plenty of instant cast abilities to fill the gaps while avoiding boss mechanics and because of constantly having a pet dpsing I barely lose a beat. However bad dpsers are bad and no matter what class they are if they can't handle simple mechanics then they are going to have issues anyway. So, after spending about 3 hrs wiping against this thing it has become clear that "Certain classes" are not going to really get this done.
Namely SMN/BLM, as both require you to stand still and pew pew. Demon Wall does not allow this...Almost at all.
Not only do you get the poison on the ground that gives random debuffs and damage but you have the knockback, adds, adds that do large AOEs that do pretty nasty damage and you get the room cut in half.
I am all up for a challenge but Demon Wall is just seems broken.
"If you kill all the wolves you're gonna have a crap load of bunnies, and by bunnies I mean stupid people."
As a WHM, I think this boss is hard for different reason.
Have any healers out there noticed that whenever you heal someone and try to dodge a move just as the spell goes off, your character instead turns around to move in the direction of the person you just healed?
I can imagine the same thing happening to other classes as well, but since you're always facing the ENEMY, it's not that big of a deal. As long as the target I'm healing is in front of me, this never is a problem.
However, whenever I'm healing other characters who are at my sides/behind me, and I have to move around constantly, my character gets these random fits where he decides to run in the opposite direction of where I'm supposed to dodge at, because the target I'm healing is in that direction.
Please tell me I'm not the only one getting this? It's screwed me over so many times. And makes me look stupid for running headfirst into the AoEs instead of out of them.
Extra Edit: Whenever I fight the Demon Wall with a tank + 2 melees, I have no problems whatsoever (because they're all always in front of me), but as soon as I have other mages or a bard in the group (who stand at my sides or behind me, never close enough to the boss so I can stand comfortably behind them and also be in range to heal the tank), I start getting hit for this very reason.

Manaward and manawall don't always stop the knockback. These spells will work only if you have Stoneskin, but it's not pretty sure even having it. Sometimes the Wall gets bugged on repel, it seems that it doesn't hit you, so you happily move and suddenly fall down. It's such a bug, I still have no clue of why it happens, but I suggest that, when it happens, to stay mid until you don't see your body knocked back, even if you have a pattern under your feet. A good WHM can easily handle it with an instant cure/benediction if needed, continuing the fight 'til the end and killing the wall ^^ .

It is an option in config. I forget where exactly. "Auto face target when using actions" or something like that. Try turning it off, and see how it works for ya.As a WHM, I think this boss is hard for different reason.
