Stop using the DPS meters to judge party damage! It is bugged as hell and everyone knows it already.

Until DoT damage is accounted for correctly in the combat logs or the damage meters we cannot really tell if Summoners are doing 'Good' or 'Bad' DPS.

All I know, based on my experience as a Summoner is that Summoners are pretty weak early on without good gear, they were doing the lowest DPS.

However, as you gear up and replace your AF gear and weapons the Summoner seems to become A LOT better, doing comparable DPS with other classes. Recently we even top DPS meters, sadly this is due to the Damage Meter bug where our damage is showing incorrect over damage numbers. We are however doing 'Good' damage as we gear up.

My assumption would be that Summoners DoT scale better with upgraded gear than normal DPS does so in the long run we benefit more from gear than other DPS classes.

I used to think SMN are bad... I was about to reroll to BLM but was lazy.. boy good thing I was lazy, summoners are really strong. I'm also not basing this opinion on the OP since I haven't even clicked it yet, I did my own parses and yes while tracking dots, I did this by having my brother jot down the numbers on the screen for dots. 2x 2 minute rotations, 1 was full rotation but jotting down from battle log, and 1 full rotationd doing only dots while another person jots down the numbers. give it a try, see the numbers, you will be happy.

So far, only really good MNKs and BRDs have been able to out damage(threat) me. Average ones still lose. This is assuming that, for a DPS class, we have no + or - enmity mechanics for our attacks.
and funny thing is, threat doesnt even justify our real damage, because a lot of our damage comes from our pet, which have their own enmity.

Since we are on the topic of DPS for SMN, what exactly is the best stat prioritization? Is cast speed and Int > raw determination? What are the weights for Int against determination?

What exactly are the benefits of spell speed since we are a DoT class capped at a 3 second tick? Is it for Ruin spam?

Also whats the cast/recast gcd with stacking spell speed over 400 as I am seeing some of you have?

I'm going with Int > Crit > Spell Speed > Det.

So, endgame would be AF+1 Helm/Chest, Allagan Hands/Legs/Feet.

I would use the Darklight Breeches, imo, over AF+1 Breeches. Crit/Spell Speed vs Accuracy/Determination.

For the facts, I'm not sure if extensive testing has been done, but +crit has been shown to have very good returns.

only the initial hit of dots with initial hits can crit and not their damage over time component, but determinations affects all damage. makes more sense to go int > det > crit > spell speed.

DOTs can absolutely crit, or I would never get a River of Blood proc.

i've never seen a dot tick crit, and this is after hours of testing and prefecting rotations on dummies. the amount ticked every 3 seconds is constant for me

I made a long post for dragoons working out an EP value for each stat (shy of accuracy, i cant find the formula for it so ill have to do some testing). I plan to make a spreadsheet which should make it easy to plug in a rotation and stats and tell the exact value of each stat based on your gear/rotation
