There's nothing anyone can say at this point to back up claims besides pointing to experience.

So far, only really good MNKs and BRDs have been able to out damage(threat) me. Average ones still lose. This is assuming that, for a DPS class, we have no + or - enmity mechanics for our attacks.

btw you understand that threat and DPS are not near the same? Easily tested, an archer can do half the dps of a lancer and be higher on threat (literally half).

Buffs are a large part of this. they generate a set amount of threat to everyone in the room, any buff that effects others also gives threat to everyone for each other person.

You really use threat to measure dps? Huh that means I am the best dps in the game considering I destroy people when it comes to threat. I recall many times pulling threat from the tank or being close to it.

As of right now it's the best measure, and you don't take any single instance of it. Over a period of runs, if you're generally always #2, you know you're doing something right.

yeah same for me i either pull from tank or im right on the edge constantly the way i see it thm/blk mage is the best dps as of right now if you are going off of threat

Are you trying to say I am one of those people? I don't see in that statement where I am saying SMN dps is low. But yes you would be correct in that it applies to people saying that as well.

i believe they are actually on the higher end honestly if played well. But i have to agree, most of us would rather facts when being told we are wrong rather than "cuz i said so" or "cuz my buddy ray ray said so"
