What is your view on Duty Finder leeching?

As the title implies. I have found it increasingly common to have 1 PT member 'afk' unannounced somewhere between Area V and the Train depot boss during Castrum runs. It will always be a DPS. They will still collect Tomestone rewards upon completion while slowing down the overall run.

Personally I have collected names/servers from Lodestone.

I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this or done this. Please post your views too.

It comes with the existence of the duty finder, it won't stop it at all even with a "Vote to kick" you'll still encounter them.

So if I have to leave in the middle I get nothing for not finishing it? Sounds pretty lame. All we need is a vote to kick option.

I don't mind them that much. Some might be housewives that has to tend their babies, or some with the post man at the door and such. Well, I'm not in a hurry or anything though.

This is about unannounced AFK that are quite clearly leeching. Not someone getting the door. Yes if you leave in a Castrum run you get nothing, it's only 100 Tomestones for completion. You make space for someone that can contribute to the party.

I have children, it's a simple 'brb kids'.

Yeah, you shouldn't actually - I'm not in support for kicking people for afk, but if you bail out on a 5 minute fight or unannounced afk and just "happen" to come back after we finish the boss..you shouldn't get rewarded.

There's quite a few things SE can do for that situation which only affects the people afking or "vanishing till the boss dies" - It's pretty obvious when people are leeching compared to people actually needing to AFK at the wrong moment - you're fooling no one in the long run.

I agree with both parts, people will stop doing this when there is a risk, the risk to be kicked.

I want to hop in here for a moment. I experienced this same thing just last night, only it was one of the tanks (in Castrum Meridianum) instead. He started out doing the typical hollering at the new players that didn't yet know the strategy. They hollered back at him. As is my usual demeanor/routine, I tried to calm things down between both. I pointed out to him that, if he uses Duty Finder for CM runs, he's bound to end up with people that are in there for the first time. He could instead queue up with friends or a Free Company.

But eventually he just was so aggressive that everyone was against him. He dropped a "you guys all suck, **** y'all, I'm done." At this point, we were eager for his departure so we'd just get a replacement for him. Except he never left. Instead, he did /sit and watched us fight through the rest of the dungeon.

When we got to the final boss, he ran up to us and entered. I thought maybe he'd have put everything behind him and at least help kill the boss. Nope, he just sat in a corner and watched the other 7 of us take down the boss in both phases, then collected his free tomes before leaving. Before we won, I pointed out that, despite his rage at newbies not knowing what to do, the irony was that they were at least trying to help us all work towards the goal of a victory, whereas his self-induced exclusion hurt the run far worse.

Anyway, we won without him, but it was more annoying to me that he got the reward than that he ditched us.

Ironically, his Free Company is called "Server's Nicest Guys."

I afk during the magitek boss with cannons because it's super boring, but I'm a healer and no one needs heals so it doesn't even matter.
