    Intermittent connectivity issues/90000 error

I've been having some odd connectivity issues, so figured I'd post about them.

Every hour or so, the game will treat my character as if I am not close enough to interact with objects, or my attacks won't register on any enemies. On my girlfriend's computer, I can see that on her end I'm standing still and not doing anything, whereas on mine it looks like I'm moving around.

If I quit out and log back in, within 5 minutes of logging back in I get a sudden 90000 error and am booted. If I log in again, the cycle starts over, with me being able to play for about an hour before it happens again.

We are both wired into the same router, and she has zero connectivity issues, so that seems to rule out our modem/router to me.

Are there any known programs/services running that interfere with FFXIV? Also, are there any known ethernet controllers that cause problems?

As for my computer specs, here is what I'm running:

    CPU: Intel i5 2500k
    Motherboard: Biostar TP67B+
Memory: 4 Gigabyte of DDR3 ram
Video Card: Geforce GTX 660 Ti
Network Adapter: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

I do also have a separate ethernet card installed for work related purposes, which is running this controller: Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet

I'd be happy to provide a more thorough list of hardware and of what programs/services I have running, if that would be helpful.

I appreciate any help, as this is preventing me from wanting to partake in any instances, as disconnecting during a boss fight could lead to the group wiping and I don't want to be responsible for that .

Oh thank god, someone else is having this problem. My girlfriend is also playing on the same connection but not getting the issue. I can't even play the game at all, the second I log in I can't interact with anyone and everyone else in the game is standing still. Been like this for weeks now.

Brobotnik, we should see if we have any similarities! Maybe we can narrow it down between us.

Do you by any chance have VMWare, GoToMyPC, or Teamviewer installed? I have all 3, for work purposes, and I could see them possibly interacting with it. They're a huge hassle to disable, however, so I haven't tried to troubleshoot it that way yet.

    Also, I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

I to am running into this problem almost on a daily basis, i can play fine fora while thne if i log off for a bit and come back i get zero data received from the servers even though i logged in fine. i can run around fine (every one else is frozen and doesn't move) and as soon as i interact with an npc say i get frozen and cant move then eventually get kicked by the game with the 90K error.

I find it interesting how many different situations line up to cause the 90000 error. I can connect and quest around a zone decently well, but when I transition to another zone or into / out of an instance I have a nearly perfect chance to get the error. Doesn't matter if it is NA or Japanese servers. My problems only started 3 days ago though. With so many people having trouble, it can not simply be an issue on the user's side.

As for the software, they may cause performance hits, but there shouldn't be a problem. I don't know what teamviewer is, but if it was going to cause problems, it would have caused it before the current 90000 situation.

I'm on the fence. I want to resubscribe to this game as it seems quite fun. If they can not sort this out by the end of the free period, I will not be able to care about it for a couple of months at best. Terraria 1.2, Starbound, might even pick up GW2, then the shelf full of other rpgs to play in the downtime. This situation is too important for them to slip up, but they haven't even given anything but a rare canned response. This needs to be fixed before server transfers are enabled, and the trial should extend to that point as well.

The game has been doing this for a week now. Every 30 minutes to 1 hour the server stops responding. I can't mount, i can fire my skills but they don't do anything. I can't interact with mobs nor npc's. I see people moving around but on their screen i'm standing still. The chat works though. I get no error when this happens. I can only relog for a temp fix.

I have run the tracert, no problems there. Portforwarded, no help whatsoever. Game has permissions through firewall. When this happens the connection is still sending and receiving packets so this is really weird.

This problem started a week ago 8.31 - 9.1 after an emergency maintenance and has persisted since. I can't run dungeons and if i do i have to relog in the middle of the runs.

Well, I seemed to have solved my issue. It was a setup issue on my end. I have been using a wireless bridge to connect to another router and the extra time it took to do that likely caused the servers to think my packets are too old. The issue is resolved now that I have a direct line to the router, speeding up the packet transmission.

SE can certainly address the issue by increasing the grace period for packets, if this is the cause. I can't think of any other at the moment, and I don't care so much now that I can play after days of frustration.

Sirtis, the reason why I think it might be something on my end is I have had these problems since the beta phases, they've been persistent throughout. Originally I chalked it up to beta problems and such, but now I'm not so sure. I'm glad switching over to a wired connection fixed it for you!

Teamviewer is a piece of software for connecting to another computer and remotely controlling it. I use it to remote into a machine at the company I work for, and it pretty much always has a service running on my machine for it to work properly. Same for the other two pieces of software I mentioned, in regards to work related things and having a service running.

I wish I was using wireless and could try switching, but I've been running a wired connection the whole time. I'm doubting it's something with my network setup, as I can play fine on other online games without interruption for hours on end, or do the above mentioned work activities with no hiccups.

I tried using Wireshark to track what was going on, but it was difficult to tell which packets were related to game activities, unfortunately.

At this rate I'm probably going to set up a second Windows install just for gaming to see if that fixes it, as it'd be nice to have my work and personal computing environments separate anyways. Still, would be nice to know if something specific on my computer is leading to a problem, so that others who run into it can be helped as well, or to help them find and fix a bug related to it all.
