    CC in dungeons

Now to make this clear, I am not here to complain about the game or nitpick at every little thing. SE has bigger fish to fry right now. I just wanted your thoughts on it.

As a tank I am required to be aware of everything I am doing and everything everyone else is doing. Healers can relate to this. What I have noticed is two major things that brother about CC. One is player side and the other is game mechanics.

    Player side:
I hardly every see anyone CC mobs in dungeons. It bugs the heck out of me. I mark the mobs via 1 2 3. People should know by their level 30 range that 1 means first NPC I am about to attack and 2 is my next target, followed by 3. I sometimes add the Red mark just to make ensure they know I want the target CCed. But rarely is this the case. I end up fighting all the mobs at once. By the Brayflox stage, mobs hit very hard so you need to keep as many CCed as possible.

    Just my thoughts on that.

    Game Side:
I have a hard time telling if someone has CCed a target. As stated before, a lot of people don't use the Marks to their advantage, I can finding hard telling if an NPC is CCed besides the sound and the little bubbles. From my prospective, the bubbles get lost in all the flashy abilities everyone is using.

(This is just an example and not saying it is better in any way)
In SWTOR a CC was usually fairly obvious. A giant lightning whirlwind or the NPC genuinely looks like they have fallen asleep. In this game, the NPC just stops attacking. It doesn't look much different than when it was attacking, save for the bubbles.

Once the Devs have had a chance to catch their collective breaths, I think it would be nice for a flashier sleep animation or whatever CC a class has. Not saying its a high priority. Just a thought. I play the game on the PS3 so my graphics are fairly average. So maybe I am just missing something.

I usually CC and end up frustrated cause someone's hitting it with AOE If that happens too often, I usually stop trying, especially if I can handle the healing.

But, just say a few words. "Could you please CC #2 and #3?" suddenly everyone knows. Heck, make yourself a macro with it, maybe a bit more elaborate etc, and hit it at the beginning of the dungeon.

I play on the PS3 so typing is a major pain in the butt. But I do let everyone know what I mean by the marks. Every time its like I am talking to myself.

As a Paladin, I don't have any AOE's at this level, save for Flash which only taunts and blinds an enemy. It does not break CC. But I can see where you are coming from when playing with a tank that is a Warrior.

In SWTOR, I played a Powertech Bounty Hunter with the the tank spec. All my abilities save for a small handful were AOE's. But I knew how to work around that so I did not break CC. A Warrior should know how and when an AOE is needed.

Ok, right. PS3 is also a thing, I just usually assume PC

That's why I said, make a macro with all that stuff in there. Sure it's work to do it once, but then you have it and just click it. Done.

Like I said, I always make sure to let people know what to expect from me when I am tanking. Whether or not they use that knowledge is out of my hands.

I apologize, but I do not understand the meaning of 'CC' in the context in which you are using it.. The only MMO that I have seen the term in is unfortunately Maplestory, where it is a demand to make someone Change their Channel because someone wants to hog a map on a particular channel (As MS worlds are split into 20 channels), and as worlds in this game only have "one channel", I know it cannot mean the same.

Crowd Control. It means using your sleep ability to knock out an NPC for a short period of time.

Ahh, that makes sense.. However, do any of the classes besides Thaumaturge have Sleep abilities..? I only know about that one off of the top of my head.

Conjurers get a sleep at level 26, called Repose. Mechanically the same as Thaumaturge Sleep.

CC also means more than sleep, though Sleep in FF14 is by far the most common. For example the Conjurers "Push them away and root them into place for 6 seconds" abillity Fluid Aura is also a CC. Technically Stun is a CC but it's too short to be really used for it. Basically anything that helps deal with larger crowds of mobs more easily is CC.

Exactly. CC is anything that slows the enemy down. Not to be confused with Debuffing an enemy where you lower their base stats or poison them or any variation of it. CC is the physical slowing or outright stopping of an enemy. Like a BM's ice spells are designed to slow and root an enemy in place. This is both considered CC. Though usually CC is referring to sleeping an enemy.
