FFXI style exp party/grind. Anyone interested?

So I have been talking with my friends about how much we hate Fates because of it being mindless mob tagging. We have been wanting to get back to the old style find a camp and kill stuff just to hangout, get good at your class, and have fun lvling up.

I've been thinking about trying out the new strongholds after noticing they are not as dangerous as before and you can control what you fight a lot easier. I just don't know if anyone else on the server would be interested enough to get a decent size linkshell going to have a lot of people at different levels to make it easy to form parties.

Does anyone still do this? I know that the exp gets good once your able to chain things continuously. The jobs are setup to beable to have somebody pulling mobs to the tanks and quickly drop aggro. Anyone else think this is a more fun way to play?

I've thought about this myself. Even though it was a pain at times, I do miss the old days of partying up, grabbing a decent camp, and grinding away some xp. Given the ease in which you can dispatch mobs 3-4 lvs above your own though I think you'd have to go after some that are around 7-8 lvs higher to get the same kind of xp pt feel we had in XI before things went into easy mode.

Well ya thats the idea, we would be fighting the highest lvl mobs that we could survive on to maximize experience.

You sir are tempting me to go old school lol. I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I ran on Mandragora through all phases of closed beta but when I saw Kujata at the start of phase 4 I immediately recreated my old character from XI on that server and made it my home simply because Kujata is where I started many years of good times in XI.

While am not specifically sure the range and distance you can take the xp on a party like that as I have never made it pass chain 5~6 on mobs in a dungeon or in the field, but I believe for spiritbond old school parties might contribute more then fate running and dungeon dives. Just my two cents best of luck to you.
