    Weaver / Leatherworker Thought

I hadn't seen this posted anywhere so I figured I'd throw it up here, but I was wondering what everyone would think about helping out Weavers / Leatherworkers a bit in their resource gathering. As it sits, both require you to kill things to get crafting mats. I don't have a problem with that specifically, but when it comes to needing A LOT of mats, endlessly killing things seems a bit out of balance with other crafting classes that require node materials. Here's my thoughts:

1: Make it so when you hit 20-25, as a part of your class quest you get a buff that you have to slot on your DoW / DoM class that raises the drop rate of crafting mats for that specific class from mobs that drop them by like 50-75%, or that buffs the amount dropped.

2: Introduce a Trapper class that is able to gather skins and hides and whatnot from Trapping nodes. I know this one would take more effort than the first, but it's still an idea

Thoughts? Would doing this upset the current balance? I have neither of these crafting classes yet, but a couple of friends do and while they don't mind farming for them, the lack of drops from mobs seems less rewarding than it could be (i.e. sometimes the mobs don't drop anything for a while and then you get one that drops 2 hides or skins or whatever, then nothing else for awhile).

I totally agree on this one. I am a Leather Worker and you have to have a ton of animal Hides...this entails killing lots of mobs and makes it really time consuming to level LWk when you have to stop and go gather more animal Hides. I know every class has its challenges but just saying. Get a trapper trait or something for my BARD would be fantastic to increase drop amounts or at least the % drop rate.

Hmm have you guys tried doing the tradecraft leves? I was told they give a pretty good amount of materials but I haven't tried it yet.

I used levequests on my ARM quite a bit to go through entire levels w/ maybe 5 of them using HQ materials. The stuff they give you doesn't compensate for what you have to make. Add to that that you run out of allowances pretty quick.

I have only done a few tradecraft leves and they did not give me any materials, other than crystals (I think). The few I have done consisted of making one simple item and delivering it to the requester. It provided decent XP and some decent rewards, although nothing too great.

I see, that's disappointing! Farming sheep is definitely becoming a problem since there's only like 2 spots near Dragon Head which are almost always occupied and interferes with questers.

After leveling DoW to 50 first I'm doing relatively fine as a LTW so far at level 30. Some cool ideas in here. But my main roadblock while crafting right now is dealing with the Associated Weavers of Diabolos trying to gouge for cloth. 1k for a cotton cloth? Outrageous.

About leve rewards, you have to keep checking in periodically, they sometimes offer different rewards including skin.

I have not tried that yet...I will give that a shot. I am going to try and look up what mobs for sure drop what I need and see what I can farm and what the rate will be first. Maybe if I just devote some time to hardcore farming they will last me a while.

I don't think it's all bad. Killing monsters to collect mats means that you don't need to have a specific gathering profession leveled to collect those materials. So even though you may collect them slower, they can be easier to access. Obviously you do need a battle class of some sort instead, but that's a lot less specific than gathering professions can be and most players likely plan to level at least one battle class anyway.

Levelling something like mining is extremely boring and slow. Mining may collect mats fast once it gets to the needed level, but reaching that level can be a very tedious process. I've been doing a large number of professions and levelling things like mining is a way bigger timesink than I spend grinding out various animal hides.

that is good to know...guess you do not know how good you have it until you see another point of view. LOL Now you make me not want to level mining...and I wanted to do that.
