I always thought it was off for Bard to have a healing LB. Then again, if all healers die and you need tier 3 to raise... it can be useful... but it's very odd.
incorrect - bard is a support-DPS hybrid. Bard is NOT a pure DPS job. Want to play as DPS? Stay archer. Classes don't magically disappear just because you unlock their jobs.
Look through your bard action list. There's what...one DPS ability? That one DPS ability doesn't make you a DPS job anymore than White Mage's one damage ability Holy makes them a DPS job.
However, I do think that they should probably change it to something besides healing, something more supporty. Maybe some kind of 10 second buff for party, debuff for all nearby enemies?

It's kind of silly how they still have the healer Limit Break after CNJ was removed from their cross-class actions list, but man who cares?
So far I have used it once to save a wipe on Ifrit HM.
While I do agree that is a bit odd to still have it, the fact that other dps classes are in the group makes it not really necessary to change it since they can be the ones to use it. So unless they were to give us a unique one for a different purpose than the other two, then I don't think it matters overall. We already have single target and AOE LB.
So, which would they give us if not a unique one? Personally, I'd love to call a huge meteor from the sky.... Or I guess it would be fine as well to have my bow turn into a huge sword, but that would require me to get into melee range.
But really, being a hybrid support type class, I'd also see it fit to have a LB that provides some kind if incredible buff - maybe a damage booster for the group.
Staying as Archer means we don't get to use any of our endgame gear. It is all BRD only. And we don't gain much benefit in staying as archer either. Actually, I don't know that we get any useful skill as an Archer from cross class that we can't get as BRD. Someone feel free to point one out if I missed it, but still, I don't think it would be worth dumping all that high end gear for.

Seeing as Bard is mainly a support job it does fit, but I agree that SE could have probably made a more fitting LB. They could have added a LB that gives a certain amount of haste to everyone instead for a set amount of time, or something along those lines.
Well as Dreamer said Bard are still meant to be support. Removing Conjurer was a big mistake IMO and SE gave into the QQ from Archers wanting a DPS Job. Silly.
Archers have an End Game DPS spec. It's called Archer.
Ranger could have been the future DPS Job for Archer. The Support role should have been expanded instead of gutted. I would have preferred a second Job that was Support focused (maybe more as a Dubuffer) so we could have two of each role. Add to that concept would be making Dungeons 5 man with a Tank, Healer, 2 DPS and a Support as a Norm would have been nice.
Totally agree, theres no reason for bard to have a healing LB. It really sucks having 2 bards as dps in a 4man, talk about wastes of limit breaks for that run.
I agree with this. The Bard is currently classified as a DPS Class when entering the Duty Finder Class, so in that aspect you would expect a DPS Limit Break. In reality the Bard is more like a Support Class with a lot of DPS potential/skills (inherited from its Archer class). If you look at it like that you expect a Support Type of Limit Break. At the moment we only have a Tank, DPS and Heal role in a party (officially). So, i can understand why they would go for a Support type of Limit Break. Since Healing is the only support type of Limit Break left, it would automatically be a Healing ability.
Personally, i think that when more Support type classes are introduced to the game, a new type of Limit Break will be introduced to accommodate that type of Role.
When they do, i would expect something like a Party wide buff, such as "Hyper" where you would deal more damage but lowers defense. Something like an "Going all out!"-type of buff. You can say it would be something like the Limit Breaks Aerith had in FF7:
Level 1:
Healing Wind - Cures the entire party for half their full Hit Points.
Seal Evil - Stops (weak) enemies from moving and casting magic. Sort of a stop and silence cast.
Level 2:
Breath of the Earth - Cures all status ailments.
Fury Brand - Fill the other two party members’ limit bars to the top. (this cant be done in FFXIV, but then it could be something like the "Hyper" i've mentioned above)

The heal isn't fine, not when you're stuck in parties with NO DPS LIMIT BREAKS yet 2 DPS positions are full. Bard was never a "heal bot" giving us a healing limit break was lazy and a poor decision.
I was denied into a group last night because they wanted someone with a DPS limit break, It's unfortunate that a DPS class can't bring this option to a group.
