I just can´t keep aggro at lv 50.

I had a quite easy an time tanking both dungeons and fates up to level 48 aprox but upon hitting level 50 i just can´t seem to keep any sort of aggro.

To make an example of what happened yesterday while fighting any boss at The Praetorium:

I would ask my party to let me get a few hits first, and proceeded to shield lob, savage/halone combo and used circle and spirits in between a couple flashes.

The very second the healer used one or two spells, the colossus turned tails and went to attack the healer, so i used provoke+shield lob and once i got his attention i began to combo...only to have the warrior steal the aggro in 3 hits and tank him for the whole fight, rinse and repeat.

In some bosses, switch "healer" for "black mage", the rest being the same.

Any idea of why this may be happening?

Colossus does random things like that, it will turn no matter what. Were the healers overcuring?

WAR has an easier time generating hate with their combo+overpower. That WAR needed to learn hate management.

I seem to have that issue in pretty much all the 8 man content though, especially if the healer has to cure a lot due to dps "standin on the fire".

In 4 man content such as Amdapor i seem to keep boss aggro just fine but i do have trouble with adds, especially if dps/healer begin to run around with the mobs chasing them, as they separate and make it hard for me to focus on them all at the same time.

But in the 8 man content i seriously just can´t keep bosses on me, no matter how fast i "spam" my enmity combos/circle/spirits/flash.

Then it's not your fault nor your healer's. In general rule, there's no excuse to steal aggro from a tank with the integrated threat meter, except for a healer.

Just explain them that it's far more efficient and easy for you if they run to you in these situations, instead of running around trying to kite like retards.

Warriors need to drop defiance in order to not steal aggro from the paladins. It's because we are made to hold a lot of mobs via aoe vokes. If the warrior keeps defiance up and overpowers or spams skull cracker he is going to be stealing the hate.

    Hi Saga,

Healer standpoint, quick observation. I have seen that Paladins may sometimes not apply Shield Oath when entering an instance or if they die and respawn. When this happens, other jobs immediately pull enmity and often I will end up healing more frequently to keep the Paladin alive, which may lead to let paladin go low HP so he can keep enmity or heal and end up Cure tanking until paladin can take the hate back. When the Paladin is in Shield Oath or Sword Oath, I generally don't get put in this situation.

Other times where I may take hate is to respond to an emergency HP drop (e.g. two party members taking 2000+ damage from an avoidable attack).

Depending on the content, if you can afford to start off the battle with a Fast Blade (instead of a Shield Lob) so that your next attack is a big enmity gaining Savage Blade, that may put you ahead of folks without needing as much lead time.

I have not had issues with pulling aggro as a WHM in 4mans. I run with a very good PLD and threat is never an issue. Now Raid threat is a completely different issue and it seems off. While doing the 8 man content I could throw maybe one or two cures and rip threat on certain bosses or adds. No amount of high enmity attacks would pull that agro off me either. On Ultimate Weapon I kited for close to 30 seconds not using any abilities and neither tank was able to pull threat. Previous to pulling aggro I had not used medica/Medica II and only used regen and cure very conservatively. I also used Shroud to purposely lower threat. None of it would drop the Boss off me. I have noticed that in the 8 man content healing threat is significantly higher than the 4 man content even without casting Medica in any form.

Just like Iymala says, in 4mans i do not seem to have issues with aggro&healers, it´s in raid content that i feel helpless xD

Iymala´s experience seems to explain pretty much the same i suffer in those dungeons.

and Fiosha_Maureiba, thank you! But i do remember to keep my oaths on at all times! :3
Funnily enough, i seem to aggro more easily with sword ( i guess cause of the increased damage ) than shield <.<

Colossus has a damage shield on for the first part of the fight. If you can't do damage to it, you won't get aggro. I suggest you use provoke after first heal (or two), then a couple of flashes.
