Fishing has too much RNG

The annoying thing is people who do the other disciples of land have a choice in what they get to choose so why is fishing the only one that is chance based?

The other disciples also take longer to get their next level. If you think it's too easy to level fishing right now and want to get less xp per fish to go with being able to choose which fish to catch, this would be a valid point. But as it stands, I only agree that it's too random. I notice even at my low levels.

I would take an EXP hit if it meant fish preferred certain bait, so I could go fishing for a particular fish.

Wow, a bunch of complainers here. I've been fishing for 10ish hours a day since beta and I can say the randomness isnt the problem. It isnt that hard to get the fish you want if you know what bait/lure to use. Also complaining that you're not able to catch Mahi-Mahi every third catch is dumb. Thats a level 50 legendary fish.

What you should be complaining about is not how random the fish seem but is how underdeveloped the fishing profession as a whole is. If you play the other professions you notice a ton more class skills and interactivity. Plus most of the stuff you can gather with the other classes are usable in recipes. Fisher's items about 170 of the 200 fish are nothing but trash that sells for less than the cost of bait / repairs.

We have no fish that get us any money either due to undercutting and the fact that there are so few valuable items to be had via seafood stuff.

Fishing feels like an unfinished class that, unfortunately will be put aside I am sure for a while before improved as there are a ton of other more important things for them to worry about.

Fishing is only good for one thing, getting the achievements and thats it. Possibly by the time those are finished fishing will have a few improvements. But as of now, the randomness of the fish isnt the problem. Quit complaining about stupid shit.

I don't give a damn about real life fishing. I'm sick and tired of wasting my time out here trying to hook a damn full moon sardine at night HQ so I can get a silver shark for crafting, and hooking every damn thing else far more often no matter what bait I use. Spoon Worm -> Most often NOT sardine, Herring Ball -> Most often NOT sardine, Iron Gig -> Most often NOT sardine, Norther Krill - Most often NOT sardine, Krill cage feeder -> Almost ALWAYS Meritor goby. I can go out and catch Mahi Mahi more often than this damn thing. And when I do FINALLY after almost an hour get a full moon sardine HQ, it catches a damn blue octopus. After a whole day of fishing, after waking up from falling asleep on it, I got one damn silver shark. Its bad enough that damn near every other fish is completely useless, and every other useful fish is not nearly this bad (because they most of them are on the vendors)

Sorry this is not relaxing, this is stupid and frusterating. I literally fell asleep doing this. Fix fishing.

Perhaps if you took a sedative, stopped drinking thew coffee an relaxed a little then typed up a in depth an well worded post on the tech forum (leaving out rants anger demands an the usual forum crap). You would get alot farther than posting here.It is entirely possible that the loot database needs looking at. God knows that has happened enough times in MMO's.

This isn't tech support, this is fishing feedback. Posting in Tech support is actually the wrong place, and only serves to remove the post limitations on people trying to post in it. All of fishing is jacked up, not just the silver shark deal. Silver shark is just the worst since its needed for quite a few crafts, but its by far one of the rarest fish to catch due to having to depend on 3 variables of random: That the "Proper bait" will actually catch a fullmoon sardine at night, that the full moon sardine will be HQ, and that the HQ sardine will actually catch a silver shark, not a blue octopus.

There are a few other instances where your mooch fish will catch the wrong fish in other places too, but they all catch totally useless fish regardless. And the issue with bait at higher levels meant for higher level fish catching every damn non-mooch fish close to or below its level still remains.

Also, you might not have very good gear, or just have terrible luck. There is also the possibility that fishing is actually not working properly on your server. You should submit a report on the proper forum, and not in the middle of another thread. It is actually pretty easy to catch Silver Sharks. If it wasn't, then there wouldn't be a ton of them on the market at 300-500gil a piece.

Edit: As a side note. I tend to not use the right "tone" in my posts. To clarify, this post is just meant as an attempt to be helpful. I'm not trying to argue, or say that you're wrong.
