I prefer dungeon exp over fates because I enjoy that way of leveling more.

I love running Dungeons also...my favorite part of the game besides the primal fights of which I have only done Ifrit so far...what level do you get to do the next one???

Playing since Beta phase 3
do fates in the "mines" 100k+ xp

I prefer to dungeon to level up, since I wanted to make myself a better healer/Tank, I practice those dungeons. ^_^ I don't really like to level extremely fast, gets me bored.
This is something I realized earlier today and it explains why dungeon xp doesn't compare as well to fate grinding. The reason is because you can only get xp chain bonuses for one level which is the minimum level you join. For example, I was doing copper mines a few times to level up with my lancer at level 18 and the enemies were giving ~350-400 xp per kill. When I went to the same place as a monk where the enemies were the same level as myself, I saw a huge jump in xp because of the chain bonuses. With my lancer at 18 and no chain bonus the instance gave me ~30k xp. When I went there on my monk at level 17 I had gotten ~45k xp.
So basically, if they allowed you to get xp chains no matter your level inside an instance group, it would dramatically increase the xp gain from them and we would have more options for good xp other than fate grinding when you are leveling up a class that has no quests left to complete.

And FATE grinding gives you more Company Seals than you can hold.
While the dungeon/quest grinders get to 50 and have to grind FATEs now for seals, the FATE grinders could have ranked up all the way to the top and have enough seals for a full set of iLv 55 gear.
FATE grinding is also more efficient because they're all just a zerg-fest. Dungeons however you can wipe, DPS can be slow, you could run into trolls, etc. In a FATE, it doesn't matter at all what everyone else are doing. They might as well be NPCs.
So on the one hand you have everything to gain by running FATEs, on the other hand you keep losing out on stuff here and there if you grind dungeons.
I believe people who grind dungeons now are only those who really love dungeons. Or want some particular drop from a dungeon.
Now to be fair, the design intention was to let players do a good mix of everything. Do dungeons every now and then, run a FATE if you're close by, take a detour while questing to complete your hunting log, etc., so dungeon grinding shouldn't be the "best" leveling grind anyway.
But then the same applies to FATEs. That's why we think it's not balanced properly. In my opinion FATEs should not spawn so frequently, and they should last a lot longer than the 3~5min rush they are now. Make them few but very rewarding. This locus swarm FATE zerging army in some zones is so sad that I am tempted to join them all the time. :3

I was stuck at 47 with no story quests or even side quests until 49, so i decided to try running dungeons. Never could get one of the right level to pop, so i went and joined a fate group. That day i got two levels. It wasn't even a whole day of grinding, just a few hours. It wasn't just faster, it was insanely faster, especially with that DD one, not sure what went on, but i gained half a level each time it came up. The times i've done dungeons, it never even comes close, not to mention drop outs, rage quits, etc. There is gear in dungeons, but i've rarely seen things for the class i'm playing or win anyway. I'd rather do dungeons and quests, it's just not as easy to get in dungeons and quests aren't there as much.

I got to level 40 on Brayflox while trying to get the Battlemage's robe. It's not bad but not the best way to level.

It's not so bad. I spent 3 days at Brayfox, hunting for battlemage set and I got to lv43 from 32.
Holy cow, the battlemage robe is very hard to obtain.
