Is Dungeon XP really that bad?

Well people say fates are best, but im lv 44 and doing a fate gives me like 10k XP with gold, but when i went to the lv 41 and 44 dungeons i was getting 1.4k XP per mob, mobs are ing roups of 3-4 so that's 4-5k XP per mob group that takes a few mins to kill, the fact you can kill these constantly all the way through the dungeon seems pretty good.

Now i tried to lv on fates on the snow zone and i was stood for 5 min waiting for one, then if i could get to it in time and get gold/silver id get 10k in 5-10 min, so are dungeons really as bad as people think? because from where im sat it seems dungeons are much faster and more enjoyable and constant...

Dungeons are way more enjoyable. However, fate allows you to level twice as fast when you join a group and just tag mobs in fates. Anyone trying to level fast will NEVER run a dungeon and just grind fates. It is a terrible design.

How does this work? i see people asking for fate groups and when i joined one i gained no more XP for completing it? and most of mobs were already tagged so i gained a pathetic amount of mob XP, is it really worth grouping for fates? for some mob xp? i never seemed to gain much at all by this.

You get the same EXP for completion, but you get EXP for every enemy your party "claims" (name is red instead of purple).

I have not tried running FATES with a party yet but I do them alone and get gold almost every time and get great XP. Some classes/jobs just do better at them than others IMO. Since I am playing a BARD I can just target one mob and then Quick Knock and smash everything so my claimed mobs is excellent. CNJ and PUG seem to have major issues though because they target one at a time. I think that is why Players are using a Party so that they can "share the wealth".

    Stop that shit.

To post something on-topic: It's bad xp, expensive in repairs, mostly not worth it for drops.

I prefer dungeon exp over fates because I enjoy that way of leveling more.

Well, since you're a tank, you won't have to wait for queues. Most people are DPS classes, and for them a queue takes at least half an hour, so FATEs are more efficient for them. Some people are doing FATEs while waiting in queue, even.

I was stuck at 47 with no story quests or even side quests until 49, so i decided to try running dungeons. Never could get one of the right level to pop, so i went and joined a fate group. That day i got two levels. It wasn't even a whole day of grinding, just a few hours. It wasn't just faster, it was insanely faster, especially with that DD one, not sure what went on, but i gained half a level each time it came up. The times i've done dungeons, it never even comes close, not to mention drop outs, rage quits, etc. There is gear in dungeons, but i've rarely seen things for the class i'm playing or win anyway. I'd rather do dungeons and quests, it's just not as easy to get in dungeons and quests aren't there as much.

It's an exp per minute issue. Yeah, dungeons have a lot of potential exp but a single pull can sometimes take as long as a fate when its zerged and yields only half the experience. Even a dungeon boss can yield 5k exp, but the boss likely takes twice as long than zerging a fate
