When will Hyperion open up for new characters?

They are rolling out another server upgrade pretty soon, you people act like they are somehow oblivious to the issues at hand. Do you really think they just turned on the servers, said "My work here is done" and left it at that?
Hyperion is the (or pretty damn close to) most populous server, you are damn right I want them to keep it locked if letting everyone who has 3-4 friends on and crash the entire thing. Because guess what, I have friends that want on to but they are just going to have to wait it out like everyone else.

Wow. Sorry to spoil your precious server with the unwashed masses...

But they seem oblivious to the fact that there are people who have simply stopped playing entirely because there is no guarantee that they will be able to transfer there at ANY point in the future without paying a price. They're oblivious to the fact that their lack of preparation has shattered not just groups of friends, but organized guilds and social communities. If they weren't oblivious to it, they would release a clear statement saying "Hey, we know things are a mess right now, but when we do end up offering transfers, they will be free for a time before we start charging, so play on, and have no fear that you will not have to pay to see your friends again. It may take a while and we're not promising there won't be unexpected delays, but we aren't going to charge you for our mistakes."

That. Simple. Doesn't cost them anything to say that, and it's the right thing to do.
