The only thing I can think is to make sure your monitor isn't set to zoom or wide. I had this problem on my monitor with my PS3 and that corrected it. I play on a tv and a monitor (dependent upon the room), and both had that same problem.

I have the same problem Soraki!! Its weird. The display is perfect on a smaller TV but my big HD one that I mainly use when on the PS3, it doesnt fit. I can barely see my chat box to type things in and my gil isnt there. It's not zoomed in, wide screen.....tried all the settings on my ps3 and still the display doesnt fit. ;_; Been looking for a solution as well.

The reason it does this to you (and its likely different than the OP's issue) is because of overscan. Most console games that have (important) graphical items near the edge of the screen (outside of the title safe or action safe areas), allow you to "adjust" the screen size to account for your specific TV. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overscan for more details on overscan.
