I would rather lose the roll. At least that way, I have a chance of getting it but as it is now, I don't even get the chance to roll. It doesn't matter. I'm going to try a summoner since I won that weapon on a greed roll while trying to get my pally weapon. The odds of that occurring (a 1/9 chance not happening 50 consecutive times) are about .25%. One in four hundred people will have luck as bad as you. It's unfortunate, but it's math.
I have a question for everyone: which would be worse, not seeing it drop 50 times in a row, or seeing it drop 50 times in a row and losing the roll every time?
I did not pay to WAIT to play the game. I paid to PLAY.
Just saw the topic and found it funny. For me its the full opposite, yesterday alone i did it maybe 10 times, of that 10 times, there were 3 WHM drops, 3 Bow drops (they dropped in row...), 3 Blade Drops and the Book. Im Drg and War and my 2 Weapons i never saw yet. In around 50-60 runs together... Im soon to beat Titan (finished Garuda) without never had a Ifrit Wep...on both jobs.

I'm not farming Ifrit for my pally weapon any longer. It's a waste of time. I'll work on my summoner since I managed to win that one on a greed roll after it dropped 26 times out of the 50 I ran looking for the pally drop and just go back to the previous game I played to get my tanking fix. At this point, I'm just killing time until Elder Scrolls comes out so its really not that big a deal anymore.Just saw the topic and found it funny. The .25% chance calculation assumes the blade has a 1/9 chance to drop. From previous sample sizes we know it doesn't. The grimoire drops like crazy, on the other hand.
Still, regardless of the exact math, I think we can all agree killing a boss 50+ times and having nothing to show for it is not fun gameplay, especially when along the way you get stacks of another classes weapon, even when they aren't there. My first two runs were harpoons we greeded because there weren't any dragoons present.

You can post on the lodestone a picture of you beating Ifrit, no one gives a shit.
And there is a difference between "a weapon every 9 fights" and "11-12% drop rate".
Just farm Ifrit until you get your weapon, I know people who've beaten him more than 200 times just to get a sword.
I got my Ifrit's Cane after 40+ runs, I just was lucky.
"Nothing to show for it" means you didn't get anything, not that you don't have bragging (or whinging) rights. Ok, yeah, you do him 50 times you get 500 philo tombstones which you may or may not need, at a drop rate fantastically worse than doing philo stone dungeons or Garuda.I didn't beat primals just to show someone I did.

11% drop rate means exactly that, when it's drop time, there is an 11% chance of something dropping. You would see such an item 1 in 9 times, roughly. The observed drop rate on the weapons on this boss is not like that though, and for reasons we don't really understand, horribly skewed. I've greeded the Grimoire so many times it's not even funny because I've seen it so often. I've gotten the axe multiple times when there wasn't even a warrior present. But the blade? Nope. Have never seen the monk weapon, either.
Now, accounts like this are to be expected with RNG, but a little math starts making it obvious that the drop rates for the weapons aren't equal and some classes are doomed to run Ifrit 4-5x as much as others just to get their weapon. Does that make fun gameplay sense? No it does not. Would it make sense if you needed to get 5 titan downs to get your relic and I only needed one? No. QQ please fix.

1 weapon every 9 fights means when you win the 9th time you get the weapon, not a run less not one more.11% drop rate means exactly that, when it's drop time, there is an 11% chance of something dropping. 11% means you drop it at first try, at 10th, at 100th, but you will PROBABLY drop it around 10th.
Maybe something wasn't lost in translation -- you just don't understand stats. That's ok.
Do you have a point to contribute aside from misunderstanding what drop rate means? If you think the drop rate is great, I suppose we'll just have to disagree on what makes a game fun -- for me, almost mindlessly running the same encounter every night for weeks just praying a server kicks out a certain number isn't really engaging or fun. I'd prefer *some* kind of reward for progress -- like maybe a single Ifrit-specific token, and you get 50 and can turn in for the weapon rather than just praying to the gods of RNG.
QQ on this matter as well.
Either put the weapons for sale after 20 runs with w/e item or sort the loot table.

I got both ifrits and garudas on my 2nd try![]()
