Because there's still quite a few MMOs that doesn't have a "mount" system but use other forms of transportation in general, there's some that even uses a "go to" system through the map.

You will be bitching about chocobos 10 minutes after they release it anyway.

they already have chocobo model in the game. all they need to do is put characters on the damn birds and adjust moving speed, done! if their programmers can not do it in 5 hours they should be fired

Not if you should do more then just ride them. SE said the chocobos are not just to ride, if they are coming.

Hopefully it won't be that simple... What do you think the game is? A LEGO game? Retoric question, btw...
OT, I guess it's the promised patch since we were told it would contain that 30% from the original patch (1.17 being 70%). Maybe they are planning to release a 1.17b patch for fixes and 1.18 with content (Grand Companies) and battle system changes. Who knows^^
