TBH, I also picked story-based quests and mini-questshttp://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/29455...cer-i-1212010/

Some of you haven't even realized this yet but maybe you need someone to tell you that they're not making the game for you any more - they have long lost you or kept you and it seems as if they have kept you. IMO the more quests the merrier, it doesn't mean they halted working on other stuff and considering the quests aren't out of this world (just some lore and story and sometimes humor and basically fetch quests) I'm sure they aren't using up their resources on quests. On top of this I doubt they want to implement Chocobos and just haven't had time, I'm sure when they want to implement the birds they will.
The game right now is being built for the second wave of players and for it to succeed they need it to get a good impression and lasting one at that otherwise it'll be an even bigger failure...us? they're just dragging us along for the ride.

of course, no one ask about chocobos because it should be there since launch...
how could you release MMO in 2010 without mount system?
Because there's still quite a few MMOs that doesn't have a "mount" system but use other forms of transportation in general, there's some that even uses a "go to" system through the map.
You will be bitching about chocobos 10 minutes after they release it anyway.
