Framerate issues

Hey guys,

There's an issue I am experiencing which I have been unable to fix no matter how much I tried. The issue is the following: I get dreadful frame rates in cities and whenever I see lots of people around. Typically, the game runs at capped 60 FPS, however as soon I am anywhere near the Aetherite plaza in Limsa Lominsa or other similar places where people gather up, the frame rate takes a dive to as low as 30!

Here's my system specs:
Intel i7 4770 @3.9GHz
12 Gb of DDR3 1600
Nvidia GeForce GTX770
Gigabyte Z87-HD3 mobo

I have tried absolutely everything I could: updating drivers, BIOS, playing around with the Nvidia CP - nothing helps. The GPU load never rises above 60% and the CPU load is even lower - around 50.

If anyone has any ideas - please help!

The game is simply not optimized, maybe due to the fact that they had to prioritize the PS3? I thought I was the only one having this problem because I was using a laptop. Phew.

Thanks for the response. I guess we will have to wait for some performance fixes in the upcoming patches then.

I bought for FFXIV new GPU... I just feel cheated :/

turn off your bloody vsync

Vsync will not be the culprit here. Inherently Vsync is never the culprit, it's often the program or the drivers in how it treats frame buffering. Additionally, he could be using Adaptive syncing OR he may be using frame limiting e.g. 58fps/60hz. Regardless, he'd still get the same performance problems.

Framerate drops in crowded areas does not suddenly make the game unplayable for me, and I get the most framerate variance with a 120Hz monitor.
