Someone from WoW saying he knows what a summoner is in Final Fantasy? Im not gonna start a conversation on why summoner XIV is boring I never seen a pet class that boring until now thank god I never played WoW.No, it's not.
I know what a Summoner is.
But there is nowhere a testimonial about what Summoners should be and shouldn't be. SE goes its own way with this "Summoner".
Summoner = summons "something"
And yeah, we summon different pets. That's it. Nothing else.
If you don't confirm with their way of the Summoner... hey, that's your problem, not theirs.
That's like saying: Force users are ppl who use the force, so now Obi Wan uses force Lightning and a red lightsaber, and if you don't confirm with Disneys way of the force user, hey that's your problem. No, it's not.

Well guess what? it will be THEIR problem when they suddenly see a lot of Angered fans, when they suddenly took an iconic class and turned it into something it has never been. All other classes/jobs in this game maintain their original way of playing, except for SMN, it is now a warlock with an almost good for nothing pet.
What the heck has it to do with WoW?
I just said Summoner reminds me of my first time classic Warlock - where is the problem?
You can't judge, I can't judge. It is just SE's choice, isn't it?
Maybe it is your turn to accept, that Summoner in FFXIV is different than Summoner in FFXI.

I don't know what you're hoping for... a complete rework of Summoner? Get serious guys.

Just like how FF10 turned it into something it had never been before, right? There is no iconic "summoner" class because it varied widly from 1-9, and 10, 11, 12, 13, and now 14.That's like saying: Force users are ppl who use the force, so now Obi Wan uses force Lightning and a red lightsaber, and if you don't confirm with Disneys way of the force user, hey that's your problem.

It has everything to do with WoW if you played the game everything is WoW in there. What the heck has it to do with WoW?

Sorry, but what you say up there is crap.
I played maybe every possible MMO out there. And everywhere is WoW? Take a step back.
Summoner reminds me on another class I played 7 years ago... yeah, everywhere is WoW. Thanks for making my Sunday funny.
Thank you! That's it.
Maybe you guys should just read this: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Summoner
Summoner is not what you want it to be, it's what SE wants it to be. And you can summon egis in FFXIV, so Summoner is just what the name says.
Before you discuss about turning the Summoner in something completely different, start maintaining the balance issues and try to solve them.
because everyone who disagrees with you is automatically wrong, right? only you understand what a summoner class is, not me, not anyone else in the forum, and not he dozens of developers that put YEARS into the game. you're right, after 2 weeks of playing you know everything and you should be balancing the game mechanics. SE should hire you at a million dollars a year for your vast wealth of knowledge and wisdom /sI do agree with you there. the ones that are disagreeing with you. I do feel they do not actually understand what a summoner Job really is. Then you have the Ones that act like they know how to play the Job how can you know how to fully play the Job roll when the game has only been out for a week.
I just want to add...
A class like the FFXI summoner is nice, indeed. Would be fun to have a Job like that in this game, too.
BUT: SE made a different decision. As a whole concept, I like the way the Summoner works right now ( nevertheless there need to be some adjustments ). They could add another class in the future. What about "Evoker" or "Spiritcaller" or something like that. Maybe 1min CD big, huge summons - that is what you want the "Summoner" to be right now?![]()
That's because you can't tell the difference between a summoner and someone who is able to cast summons. A summoner is someone whos main focus is their summon. Garnet, Yuna, FFXI summoner, and Rydia to some degree, (yes she mastered black magic as well), those are real summoners, their Eidolons and them were one. In this version we are disease throwing warlocks, with a pet as a Sidekick, if our summon dies, who cares, we can still kill without being heavily penalized, were a real summoner would had lost his 'sword' so to speak
No one want big *** summons. Go away you trollI just want to add...
