At first there was a spam message once in a while and then they started spamming more frequently.

Now there are 2 or 3 people at a time spanning non stop and it is unbearable.

I was even getting direct messages at one point and it plays a loud message sound when it arrives.

Spammers should be detected and swiftly banned or filtered automatically in the communications system. If you let them do a little bit they will destroy the entire game experience and they are.

It's typical for SPAM in MMOs, but what isn't typical is how in FFXIV you have to manually type one's name whom you want to block rather than a simple right-click/ignore.

They need to get on top of this right away, with a right-click banlist and reporting tool. It's gotten unbearable in the cities.

It is like a disease or virus, it has almost become considered a pandemic. Pretty soon the entire world will be covered in them, in every server. IP ban, blacklist, something!

The spamming seems to be getting worse. At first I got 1 spammer once in a while, and saw shouts. Two days ago I had 6 different RMT send me personal tells. Yesterday I had 5 more new ones, and today I don't even want to log into the game because there is SO MUCH spamming that it's driving me crazy. I have played a lot of mmos, and played FFXI for 10 years, and I have never experienced RMT spamming on this scale... My husband gets as many as I do, and if you blacklist there is just different ones an hour later. They send the tell messages every 10-20 minutes, and they don't stop until you block them. There is no easy way of blocking them, and I think a right click and blacklist feature would be really helpful. It won't solve this problem... but at least it would help a bit. It doesn't matter where I am or what I am doing. The only escape I get is going into a dungeon where tells won't go through.

My husband and I will continue reporting all of them that send the tells, using Report for harassment in the help section.
I hope they are working on something to help with the RMT problem. I understand they have a lot going on right now with the servers, but I hope they don't ignore this RMT issue long term.
