    Group Requirements for STORY QUESTS

    Hey All,

Been playing for 2 evenings now.. and having an awesome time!

But there is one thing of concern...
To progress the STORY QUESTS... some of them require a GROUP.

While I have nothing against groups... (I mean.. I am playing an MMO right?)
I do have something against waiting hours apron hours just to get a crack at said quest.

I finally finished the first group quest in the story line.. and tbh... I will be level 50 before I finish the level 20 story line...
only because waiting for a group is BS!

Seriously.. I love grouping.. but if I cant progress my character unless I group.. that is BS!

this is an otherwise awesome game... ruined by forcing me to group just to progress the main story.

Duty finder? Never waited more than 40 mins for anything and that is just Hard Primals and Amdapor when people aren't on. Lower stuff always pops in a few mins. I'm surprised to hear your having issues, also as a side note, what MMO's have you played that don't require groups for portions of any main story quest mission?

I don't have a lot of mmo variety experience (I have been playing for a number of years, I just don't jump ship very quickly to something new) but what I have seen and experienced, the story/questing is separate from the dungeon running. Yes, there is story in the dungeons, but this is the first I have been tied down from progressing in questing (since the main story also unlocks all the quest hubs) by needing to do group content.

Now, I am not at all complaining about this. I love it. Honestly, if you find yourself stuck waiting for a queue and you have NOTHING to do on that class, switch to your alternate class and start working on it. To get access to your job at 30, you will need to be 15 on your alternative class. And there are at least 2 classes that complement your main class as far as getting abilities from them. These carry all the way up through 34. So whatever your main is, you have to get at least two other classes to 34. Go work on that while you wait.

I enjoy the set-up a lot, it requires people to play with one another that way you don't get a mostly Single Player MMO. I'm going to guess you're new to the FF MMO Style?

Either way, I do understand the frustration if you wanted too sometimes its quicker to use the Shout channel and find a group that way.

While I know that the "final fantasy MMO" style is a bit different, I would not worry about this right now, you will get groups. You just might have to wait a while.

I would be more concerned about a few years down the line, when a new player needs to do Sastascha for example. Who on earth is going to do that dungeon with them?

Gonna be rough going in future...

WoW, Star Wars, and EVE all do. I have played others but not very much, so I cannot speak about them. Star Wars, your class quest is ALL solo, and so is the planet quest lines. EVE has everything open from the start, they just lock you down based on skill points allocated. There are a handful of "main story arcs" in the game, and are all intended to be ran solo. And WoW didn't have any "main story" quests... in the beginning. Things have changed a bit since then, but even still, not required to group for the content. (unless things changed with Pandas... didn't play that).

Actually what I find cool about this game, the solo content for the story you MUST do it solo. You cannot "outlevel" any of the content since it forces your level down to something appropriate. Forcing you, the player, to learn to play, instead of somehow cheesing through the content.

That would indicate that this style would fail on any game, which is false. There are always people leveling. They might be leveling alts (other classes, etc) or they might be new players. There have always been people who continue to queue for dungeons in the lower levels of games. Now the timer may go up significantly, but I wouldn't call it "hard" to find a group. Especially with it being cross server, that will ensure there is a larger pool to draw from.

Well, I know players who solo but love to socialize in guildchat or generalchat. There are also folks who play MMOs just for the PVP so grouping is not an issue (although that doesn't apply here just yet).
