    Which Laptop for FFXIV

    Hello @all

i am searching for a new gaming laptop, hoping that someone else got one of these models or equivalent models and can tell me about the gameplay with them in ffxiv

i am mainly looking for asus G73 series, those i find actual got the 460M as grafic card, i got also an older model with a 5870.

so what you think which one would be ok starting from about 1200-1700 euro's its logically that i dont want to spend to much

what i want is full hd & 17"

    ASUS G73JH-TY210V W7HP64
    I7 740 QM, 8GB, 5870 @ 1600x900

    ASUS G53JW-SZ098V W7HP64
    I7 740QM, 4Gb, 460M @ 1920x1080 (the cheapest)

    ASUS G73SW-TZ083V W7HP64
    I7 2630QM, 8GB, 460M @ 1920x1080

    ASUS G73SW-TZ085V W7HP64
    I7 2630QM, 6GB, 460M @ 1920x1080

    Thanks alot for any advice

Definitely don't buy anything with 460M if you want to play FF14. Anything with Optimus technology will not work properly for FF14 (Search threads about DirectX errors and you will see). It does work with every other game I play but not FF14. Not to say this won't be addressed in the future, but just be aware. Good luck.

    Ok i got the
    G73SW-Tz083V
    now.
With Settings on 8 and 5 on the video settings tab, ambient occlusion and depth of field enabled about 15-30 fps. well its strange to see the fps wandering this bandwidth.

with ambienct occlusion disabled they are 25+

    thats ok for me.

He's not talking about a desktop.

As for OP, my wife just got a new Vaio with the 2630 QM and a 540M and it plays well.
From my experience this game runs better with a better CPU, so go for something with the second-gen i5 or i7 and you should be pleased.

Also, I think the 460M is about 40-60% better than the 540M, so that should play the game great.

I never said he was talking about a desktop , and thats even more reason to go highend, as laptops cant be upgraded, me personally if im buying a laptop to game on imn buying what ever the best card and processer at the time is, other wise in 2 years when new games come out the laptop will be useless.

An I7 930 runs the game decently, as does a 480 , but it doesnt max everything out, so to play on less than that would suck in my opinion.
